We had been walking for about thirty minutes and started getting bored. Eventually Emilee started humming a simple tune, then Alexis added a part ontop of it. After about two minutes everyone was either humming or whistling a tune and we created a harmonic melody as we had marched. After a solid five minutes we had stopped, and instead started talking about where we were at the start of the attacks. Everyone knew mine but I still told it: from how I was in Health Class at the start, to where my ex died and I took over as grade leader. Cameron and Tiffany were in the same class as me at the beginning of the apocalypse. Ky and Sophia were in a cooking class. Chris and Sadie were gaming. Madii and Alexis were in the girls locker room. Justus and Will were having chow time. Maddy, Makayla, Noah, and Emilee did not share.

We went on walking, just trying to keep a steady pace. Eventually we all tired out and just set up a small camp near a tree. The tree was decent. It had a nice long trunk, a little bit of earth under the roots were gone, and the canopy above was lush and gave nice shade. By the time we were ready to move again it was dusk, so we just stayed put. We kinda split up into three groups; Sadie, Sophia, Ky, and I slept under the tree and would keep watch. Cameron, Tiffany, Noah, and Chris would go to the very top and keep watch at a longer range. Justus, Will, Alexis, Emilee, Maddy, Madii, and Makayla would branch off within the tree's branches. I eventually fell asleep.

I was woken up by the sound of a bullet being fired. Everyone woke up and I turned to see Ky with my sniper and a round on the floor. Everyone instinctively grabbed their weapon of choice and pointed them outwards; ready for anything that would come our way. After ten minutes of no sightings everyone went back to sleep and did not wake back up till that morning. As leader I had to check what she shot, why she shot it, and what will happen. We moved out into the field and came to find a male deer laying there bullet wound in its neck. I could see why she would think it was a zombie from our vantage point; thin legs, hunched like body, moving slow. The deer was not sick or deceased and I did not want to waste fresh meat. We dragged it back to camp and I spent the rest of the night skinning, cutting, and preparing the meat.

Once we all got up and ate we left the encampment and started down the interstate again. I saw Emilee getting ready to begin humming again and set the headsets to record. This time it was more of a song than anything. Emilee gave a simple beat, Alexis gave us more of an energetic beat, and people would add on. Cameron and I started singing to it, later Ky and Sophia came in as a sort of chorus. We continued till Cameron and I had run out of words and the others had died down with their background music. I turned off the recorder and saved the sound clip. Now whenever we were too tired to make one I could just play this one.
