Now the bridge is burning [Chapter 6]

POV 3rd person

Little did Vic know that it wasn't Kellins mom on the phone to him, it was really a medic on the same ambulance as she was in. Kellin started to sob and covered his hand over his mouth. He hung up and sat there sobbing loudly while Vic hugged him trying to comfort him to find out what happened.

After a few minutes Kellin managed to choke out what happened "M-my mom is being taken to hospital" he said his voice cracking "she was in a car accident... She must have gone to get some groceries for dinner" he completely broke down in Vic's arms who was holding him tightly and stroking his hair gently to calm the younger boys trembling body

"Do you want to go see her?" Vic asked him, he nodded and moved his stiff body trying to will it to move forward, he took a step before collapsing to the floor. Vic rushed to his side and lowered himself picking up Kellin, it was a miracle he could, maybe it was the adrenaline that was rushing through his body that gave him the strength or the look at the younger boy who was completely helpless, but he did it and carried him towards the door. He yanked open the wooden door and ran out, slamming it with a loud bang behind which startled Kellin who whimpered and buried his head in the older boys chest.

Vic put Kellin in the car shutting the door with a gentle thud instead of a loud bang because of Kellins last reaction to the noise. He got in the other side and started driving, his knuckles turning white, clutching the steering wheel "It's going to be ok Kells I promise."

He parked at the hospital and got out of the car, he helped the younger boy get out and kept hold of his hand all the way to the reception desk until he got self conscious and pulled his hand away shoving it in his pocket and giving Kellin a reassuring smile while tapping his fingers against the hard plastic of the desk. The receptionist plastered a massive smile onto her face, which was nearly as fake as her smile

"Hello, what can I do for you today?" Vic tried not to gag at the sickly sweet tone she was using and looked to Kellin instead

"M-my mom was in a car accident" he said looking down at his shaking hands

"What's your last name honey?" She asked in the same voice, her hot pink fake nails tapping against the keyboard

"Quinn, b-but she'd go by Bostwick"

"That's room 502, you go upstairs and turn right, it should be the 2nd room to the left"

They nodded and started making their way up the stairs and into Kellins moms room.
