Mizuo Ryugami was living just outside of Domino City when Zero Reverse happened. She survived the blast through sheer luck, but her family died - just like her favorite duelists, Seto Kaiba and Yugi Moto. With nothing left, she wandered the shatter...

(In case anyone was curious, here's a picture of Mizuo-san that I drew a little while ago.)
"Let me explain the situation fully." Kiseki lit the lantern as he talked, carefully spreading out the map on the floor in-between them. "A . . . certain businessman approached me recently, and offered plenty of cash for anything I could plunder from this old KaibaCorp. facility." He tapped a small red circle on the map. "Right here, as you can see. Not very far from the new construction. The client isn't looking for anything in particular, but he's willing to pay for whatever we get."
"You sure this client won't just stab us in the back? Won't pay us and all?" Mizuo asked.
"Well, we can never be completely sure, can we?" He asked pointedly, a chilling smile sliding across his pale lips. Mizuo crossed her arms, not intimidated.
"After we take what we can find, where do we bring it?" Ryoto asked quietly. "Is there, umm, a drop-off point or something?"
Kiseki stared at him for a moment, as if he wasn't quite sure who was talking. "You can bring it back here, to this hospital. I can deliver it to the client at our leisure."
"We? Our?" Mizuo muttered, her glance slinking away into the darkness.
Kiseki ignored her. "The problem here is transport. City construction is going on all day, and all night. The facility is only a few hundred feet from the main road. The facility's not guarded or anything, but we probably won't be able to make it in and out without being seen by some kind of construction crew."
"We can't just walk beside the path under the cover of the woods?" Mizuo questioned.
"Part of the road is fenced. Other parts have very sheer ditches. It's narrow, too, barely enough room for a single construction vehicle. The first truck that comes through - " Kiseki held his hand up, then mimed running it over with his other hand, laying his first hand flat. "Pancakes."
"But even if we are seen, what's the problem?" Ryoto asked, his bright eyes reflecting the lantern's glow.
"Shut up Rui." Mizuo said. "You don't get it. We're all minors. We get caught runnin' like this with no parents, and we're all in foster care or something."
"We rough kids like our freedom." Kiseki added with a soft snigger
Ryoto hesitated, then nodded. As comforting as having a real place in the world again sounded, he was willing to stay with Ryugami until she didn't want him anymore. He could tell that just by being close to her, he was helping her become more human. He couldn't leave her stranded with herself.
As for Mizuo, she was completely focused on the problem. Staring blankly at the map, she didn't notice the sudden silence in the room, or even the greedy glitter of Kiseki's eyes. There was nothing to her but the obstacle and how to surmount it. It took her about 2 minutes.
