~past-day mid season.
I helped her pack the little things she brought, ignoring the fact that I didn't want her to leave. There were still things I wanted, no needed to tell her. But now she's leaving and I can't do anything about it.

"This is going to sound a little weird, but can I keep this shirt? To remember you?" Annabelle asked. It was the shirt she wore on our first trip out to the village.

I felt a tear prick in my eye and allowed it to come down, but quickly wiped it away. I nodded, and gave her a crooked smile. She wants to remember me? Why?

The carriage and horsemen came by to pick her up minutes later. Before getting in she ran back up to the house and hugged me. Holding back everything, I don't wanna let go, I don't wanna let go, I don't wanna let go. I WON'T LET GO.

The thought of my mom appeared, the day she was laying in bed. Her eyes paleish yellow with her matching dark amber eyes. I stood there at the side if the bed, holding onto her hand, not wanting to let go. But I had to, my dad picked me up as she began to close her eyes. I heard her last breath and tried to jump back to her side. "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

"Hailey, mama's gone," I continued to squirm in his arms.

"We, w-we habe to sabe mama! She's hurt, she's okay. PLEASE PAPA!" I recalled.

"HAILEY STOP, NOW! MAMA IS GONE, NO ONE CAN SAVE HER," He stood me straight up and held me. Then sighed," as great as you are or will be, not even you can save her."

I was only 3, my iq was high then. I understood what others could not. I understood death, and life. I even understood myself, and lie underneath. Not even my father knew what I could do, however he did know that my emotions played a key point in my spiritual state, and he had to keep me sane.

I buried my face in her shoulder and neck and cried. I tightened my grip on her shirt and almost completely crushed her." Don't leave......please. Not again, please."

She pulled back a bit," Again? Hailey you'll see me tomorrow, if you go to the party." She wiped a tear from my face.

"But what about after that?" Her eyes never looked so beautiful. I guess the saying is true, you never really know you love something till it leaves. AND HER AND HER BEAUTIFUL GREEN EYES ARE LEAVING ME. Calm down, this isn't forever, right?

She cupped my face in her hands and pulled my forehead down to meet hers," I'll make sure that this isn't the end, okay?" She chuckled," what happened to hunters are supposed to be brave and shut off."

"You and I both know that that policy was thrown out the door as soon as you walked through it." She laughed, I made her laugh. Her laugh made me smile. I checked that the horsemen weren't looking and moved Anna's head to the side so I could kiss her cheek. "Just for goodbye." She hugged me one last time and held her hand in mine, slowly making the gap between us bigger. Her hand slid off of mine and she trudged to the carriage.

Tomorrow night is the moonlight ball, she wants me to go but if I do I might not be stable, but if I don't. She'll think I was playing her. I looked at my hands, the warmth from Anna was fading with every passing second she was gone. I began to realize it was chilly, my spring vest wouldn't be enough for this. I walked back in the house and sat down in my couch. Sitting at the very end, like I did when Anna was sleeping. It's like I can still visualize her there with her stress free face, well kept hair and skin, and her smile.

It's only been 10 minutes and I feel unstable, why? What can I do?

~present-day first day of summer.
21 years of age.

I looked in the mirror. My formal uniform; Dark navy cloth, silver buttons and shoulder epualettes. I got medals from hunts and requests given by the villagers. I took one last look and touched the mirror. Cold.

Who am I? My eyes had changed to a deep royal blue. My emotions, I thought.

They aren't stable. Not now, of all times. I sighed and closed my eyes, please change back, please, please, pleeaasse.

I reopened them and saw, they were back to their original blue-brown mixture. I looked down at Winston, whom was rubbing his head on my leg. I squatted and tapped his head, them he whimpered.

"I know, I shouldn't leave right now. But boy, sometimes we have to do stupid things for the ones we love." I then kissed his forehead, grabbed my hunters bag and left. Shutting and locking the door behind me.

I hopped on Nolan and undid the latch, beginning our ride to the palace.

~15 minutes

I walked Nolan to the royal horsestables, his favorite place. Getting off him and closing the door, I began to get anxiety.

What if she actually chooses one of the men that came to see her? What happens to me then?

The main hall leads to the ball room, which was covered in decorations. The doors were wide open for anyone to walk through. I took a deep breath and walked through the door without hesitation. Applause throughout the whole room arose. Everyone staring, everyone clapping, everyone judging.

I slowly made it to the kings table and knelt before the him. He straighted me, shook my hand and hugged me. He thanked me then showed me to my seat at the table. Right next to Anna.... I smiled, and took my seat.

The lights dimmed and the crowd parted, all kneeling and bowing. A spotlight sparked up and pointed at the side doorway. And out came Anna, in a beautifully designed dress. The kingdom colors; Navy and Silver, were woven into the dress along with white. She's stunning, I thought.

When she reached the middle of the floor, her father walked down and bowed to her, as well as she did him. He then walked aside and invited me down to join them. I stood and slowly made my way down the carpeted pathway. My hand met with hers and she pulled me close for a hug, and whispered.

"I'm so glad you made it." I didn't respond, how could I? I bowed to her then moved aside next to her father. Members of the council came down to greet her as well, but then. A man wearing a sash walked down. He didn't bow like everyone else, instead he kissed her hand. They began to dance as King Terrance announced that the man she was dancing with was Prince Aiden.

He was so swift, tall, charming, and handsome. All things I am not, nor can I ever be. I just watched as the woman I came to love danced her time away with a man she just met. At the end of the dance he got down on one knee and proposed. I gritted my teeth, and then stood up and left to the balcony. Anna looked at me as I peeked over my shoulder.

It's cold out, getting dark, and I'm alone. My eyes changed back to the dark blue as my emotions began to fluctuate. I heard the sound of clicking heels and looked slightly behind me.

Anna......

"Hailey?"
