Hunter's Pov
"Today we'll be going in depth with quadratic equations," my math teacher, Mrs Pickings said sounding distant.
Maybe I was the one who was drifting away. It's been 2 weeks Ever since Xavier and I came back from the beach he's been acting strange. He's a lot more snappish and throws stuff. I think he broke like 5 laptops, 2 phones and 7 vases.
Mom and dad are always at work so they never really witnessed it until two nights ago.
"Xavier, Hunter dinners ready,"my mom called from downstairs.
"Coming," I said coming down the stairs.
It's very odd to find both my parents home since they're scientist and all. They're the reason this family is smart. They thought us how to handle a gun and shoot if someone's after you but they mad it cleat that the gun was for emergencies only.
The smell of spaghetti and meatballs invading my nose. Even though we're rich we eat like the average person I mean who wants french cuisine when you have my mom's cooking. She's one of the best chefs I know. She perused a degree in cooking in france and graduated valedictorian. I gave my mom a kiss and took my place at the table opposite from them. Xavier's footsteps echoed through the house as he mad his way to the table. He seemed to be in a good mood surprisingly.
"So how are you guys going at school,?" my mom asked even though she knew the answer. My dad was simy trying to enjoy his food and taking a back seat on this conversation.
"Great, I think I'm gonna do advance mathematics next year," I said twirling my spaghetti.
"How about you hun?" she said directing the question to Xavier.
"It's ok," he said nonchalantly. My parents were a bit taken aback.
Normally he'd talk about what he was doing, what projects he was working on but this isn't my brother. Ever since that night something changed in him. I was worried about him but I didn't voice my concern. I watched in silence.
"Come on hun, tell us about what projects you're working on," my mom said smiling at him.
"Nothing in particular," he responded.
"Are you ok honey?" my mom asked sincerely.
"I'm fine," he uttered.
"Are you sur-"
" I said I'm fine!" he said slamming his hands on the table and getting up from his chair.
"Xavier Calvin Revoir! Get back here and apaoligize to your mother," my dad yelled after him, finally taking part in the conversation.
"I don't have time for this," Xavier said taking his keys, slamming the front door behind him.
He never came back home that night.
These days he's hardly at home and if he is, he's locked up in his room. I don't understand what happened. One minute he was fine and he changed in a blink of an eye. I guess I have to play detective again
