Hunter's Pov

I woke up the next day feeling like a zombie. I could have cast  in the walking dead. I had a dream with Xavier again. These things are just vecoming regular occurences, he always tried to tell me something. His lips would move but I couldn't hear a a word he said and then he'd grow further away from me until he completely disappeared.

I got out of bed, showered and headed downstairs for breakfast.

"Morning mom, dad," I greeted them taking my place at the table. Mom made eggs with bacon but we had to eat with bread but that wasn't a problem for me.

"Morning," they both greeted nicely.

"Hunter today we're going to continue your gun training," my dad said eating his eggs.

"Why all of a sudden?" My eyebrows furrowed.

"It's time you learn to defend yourself better and plus we haven't trained in a few months. Now is the perfect time," he said cheerfully.

"When do we start?" I asked

"Around 3 pm, get ready for then," he said.

"Ok, also I finished the posters I think we should run through it and I'll get your opinions," I said bitting into my bacon.

"Good," the both said. The rest of breakfast was peaceful. I showed them the posters, they really liked them so I made about 50 to put up all around town.

We just placed the last poster up on the wall outside a bar. This part of the city is very dismal. LA's a great place until you reach areas like these. I took the roll of tape and hopped into the family's car.

It was about 1 pm now and we just had lunch not too long. We went to Mc Donald's.

"Since we're finally done, we're gonna head home and start training," my dad said.

"Mhm," I said my mind adrift. I'm wondering what could have happened to my brother. Something's up and I need to find out what exactly happened before something worse happens. I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't notice when we reached home.

I jumped out of the car and went to my room for some protective gear. I found them in my closet tucked away. I put my protective glasses on and bulletproof vest and made my way to the basement.

Dad was already set to go when I arrived. I guess mom's upstairs.

"Ok, let's start. Show me what you got," he said handing me my semi automatic gun and headphones.

I quickly put on the headphones and I realised the gun was loaded so I made sure that the gun was pointed downwards. That's basic gun handling101. I got into stance and raised the gun to the target, keeping my finger extended and flat outside the trigger guard on the side. With the gun already secured between the web of and my other hand stabling it. I brought the gun to eye level. I closed one eye to increase accuracy and pulled the trigger. The bullet went just a little off the middle but it cut pretty close.

"Pretty good," my dad said taking the gun from me. He stood in my exact spot and took the shot, nailing it right in the centre.

"And that my son is how you shoot a gun," he said jokingly.

" I could do better than that, I was warming up," I said.

" Is that so? Then show me,"he handed me back the gun.

It didn't go through the centre till the 3rd time and after that everything went smoothly. In the end, dad showed me where I needed to improve but it was a good sweat.

Walking back upstairs I realized it was dark out and the smell of baked chicken and macaroni pie invaded my nose. It seems we were down there longer than I thought.

I hurried to the table, I didn't realise I was really hungry till I heard a chuckle. I peared up being met with  my mother's eyes. I laughed realising how funny I probably looked and dad joined in. For once I was at peace and not thinking about anything. Just like before. It's reminded me off that time Xavier and I competed in an eating competition.

Flashback

"You're going down lil bro," Xavier said taking his place at the table with the other competitors.

" It's a good thing you're older, cause you're gonna lose big time," I said taking my seat far from him with other competitors.

The minute that bell rang we both gobbled down our hot dogs that were placed  in front of us. I think there's like 30 hotdogs per competitor. But there's only like 8 of us since this is the final.

"Done!" A man said next to me. I needed to hurry up or else I'm gonna lose to that nitwit. I continued shoving as much food as I can until I hit the bell, one second after my brother. He won. Well I'm getting a nice trophy any ways so it's a win win for me.

"Now that you lost, we're gonna do another one at home but with dad this time,"  he said triumphantly.

Present

The one thing is that after that competition we came home and both lost to dad. It was a good memory thought back when everything was calm and peaceful.

After dinner I went into my room and checked my email to see if anyone had sent anything .I saw that I had one notification sent about 30 minutes ago. Inside the email entailed  a picture of  a dead body next to a dumpster and the bottom had an address.

Thus couldn't have been Xavier, the picture doesn't look anything like him but just in case I'll show dad and we'll go and check it out tonorrow. I then left my room and walked into my parents'. They were lying down watching TV before their head turned in my direction.

" Don't you look smugly." I said referring to their superman and superwoman pyjamas.

"I got an email," I said walking over to them.

" That's great isn't it," my dad smiled.

" Not really," I turned the laptop so they could see. They were quite shocked.

" But this doesn't look anything like Xavier," mom said.

" That's what I said but shouldn't we check this out and inform the police. I mean what sick person would send someone a picture of a dead body," I said thoughtfully.

" We'll contact those good for nothing police tomorrow," dad said yawning.

" I still don't believe that's my son and it won't be my son I'm sure of it. But it'll be during school so you won't need to go with us," dad said yawning.

"If anything happens we'll call you, I doubt it though," he said.

Little did he know how wrong he was.
