Doflamingo, the murderer of his brother, Donquixote Rosinante. You bore a hatred for that man yet he only showed you affection and love. Why? He killed the love of your life.
To kill him to have his love and way was something that would never cross your mind. If you knew the psycho would go that far to win your heart, maybe you would've left with him and away from this Doflamingo.
"(Y/N), dear."
You heard the sicko's voice as your tired and weary eyes adjusted to the light from beyond your bedroom. "You're already in slumber?" You nodded as he stepped into the room, closing the door behind him.
"What did you want?" You asked coldly, turning away from the man, allowing your back to face him. "I'm tired."
He merely chuckled and his figure laid across from you, it was dark but you could see him staring back at you. The crimes he committed on innocent people, against you and your love one could never make up for his apologies---his excuses. He didn't truly love you. He thought he did. But he didn't.
You were the closest thing for him in returning to his prior status in childhood; being a Celestial Dragon, yourself, you knew he was only looking forward in marrying you. "I love you," he spoke, caressing your face. This was about the third time this week he tried this move. For years he's been telling you this, your heart would never falter because you just weren't capable of loving him.
Whether it was the years of brainwashing from your parents to 'peasants' (the people without blood of a celestial dragon) or if he was a mere pirate, you just couldn't see yourself loving him.
"No, no you don't." You told him swatting his hand away as he just let out a low chuckle. "What you love is power." Your hand stroked his cheek, "Money," your thumb grazed his bottom lip, "And status."
He slowly took your hand in his, your eyes examining his every motion, "Has it ever occurred to you that you could be loved?" Your lips played a cynical smile as you slowly shook your head.
"Has it ever occurred to you that your actions have consequences?" He let out that evil laugh that sent shivers down you spine.
How could the man you love and the man you hate come from the same flower? They are too different. Yet both of them are very flawed, one of them had managed to capture your heart. And like the many sins he committed, you couldn't help but notice the identical appearance they shared. Your lips pecked his. "See, you love me too."
You shook your head and pressed your forehead against his own. "Of course. How can I stop loving the man that I fell for long ago? Yet he's gone and has been replaced by an empty shell."
"I'm still here," he assured you as you kept quiet. "I just changed for the best, people change, love."
"Like how people die."
