The sun is going down, and I know Jacob is about to get here. I sit on the swing, and wait. Finally, after what seems an eternity, he gets here and sits on the ground. We say nothing for the first few minutes. I'm too busy thinking about Emma and the key. He looks up and say, "Ivy? Is everything okay?"
I look back, "Emma.."
"What about her? Is she alright?"
"She, she went missing yesterday, and now I'm supposed to find a key. And, I don't understand!" The tears automatically just start flowing out. He stands up next to me, pulling me into a hug.
After I calm down, we sit next to the maple tree, and explain everything. I let him see the letter, and the note from mom. He says "Tomorrow, you and I will go to the bay and look for that key. Don't forget your swimsuit. See you at 10." And I watch him walk away.
I head inside, get a drink, and then fall asleep on the couch.
I wake up to a bird chirping outside, its calls echoing throughout the house. I glance at the clock, noting that I have half an hour to get ready for the bay. I head to my room, get my swimsuit on, and brush my hair and put it in a pony. I then go to the kitchen, and cook a pop-tart. I'm walking around the kitchen, my feet sliding on the polished wood. I remember when Emma and I would run around in our socks so we would slip, and spin around. I need to find her.
Theres a knock on the door right around 10, and I shove the rest of my pop-tart into my mouth and open the door. He's here, time to go! I grab a towel, and head out the door. We walk from my house to the beach. The water cold on our toes, sending a chill through my body. If only it was warmer, this would be so much easier.
"The note said deep down below the bay. That means we'll have to swim way out." I say staring at the vast water. "Theres a path we can follow over there," Hw says pointing, "Until we get to the deepest part."
Hand in hand, Jake and I walk by the water, not knowing what will come next.
