Edan
Marco walked with me to go and pick up Toby today. Honestly I have no idea why. I'm suprised he isn't joined at the hip with the Zoe girl he has a crush on. He has a reason to now that they're partners. He should be milking this for everything he's got.
"Why aren't you with Zoe, man?"
He frowned, "Zoe's parents set up an arranged marriage... She's gonna marry some african guy and they're gonna move to Ethiopia. The ceromony is the day after graduation. I got no chance."
"Or...."
"Or?"
"You have nine months to make her fall in love with you." I said with a shrug. "She's happy about the marriage?"
"I don't know... She sounded kind of bored when she was talking about it."
"You got her number right?"
"Yeah, project purposes."
"Call her for 'project purposes'. Meet up at a cafe or whatever. Start off talking about the project, then subtly change the subject. Let her get to know you."
He smiled, "You know for someone who's been single since the 7th grade, you sure do know alot about love."
"Shut up. Go." I demanded.
Toby ran up and jumped into my arms.
"Hey, Tobs."
"Hi Marcie!" She called happily.
"Alright, bye E. Bye Tobers!"
"Bye Marcie!" She called, while i just shoved him back in the direction of where his car is.
He chuckled but stayed in place. Blond hair moving in the wind caught my attention... Please don't let it be Isabel.
"Hey Izzy!" Marco called out.
Damn... just for once my prayers couldn't be answered.
She walked over to us with her head held high, and a bright smile on her face. If I'm honest, I like her smile. It's much better then the frown that sometimes appears whenever she tallks about Ryan. Don't know why she's even with him. She frowned the whole time shewas talking about him. Her frown made me frown... Yo' that sounds mad sappy. Let's notgetinto that.
"Marcie, she's pretty. Is that your girlfriend." Toby asked.
Marco turned around and smirked, "No Toby," he said looking directly at her with a wicked gleam, "It's Edan's girlfriend"
Toby gasped, "Danny! Aunty said if she can't useyour coomb don't bring her home! She can use Marcie's comb, but your comb will make her pretty hair all greasy! She can't use it! I won't let your comb mess up her pretty hair."
I sighed, "That's not my girlfriend Tobs,"
Just as Isabel reached us, my phone rang. Yes! Saved by the ringtone.
My happiness intantly decreased when Ilooked down to see the hospitals number.
I always drad the calls. Maybe one day itwon't be my mom calling to check and see if I'm alright. It might just be a doctor caling to tell me she's not. That she finally took her last breath. It's scary, man. Beyond scary. I don't think anyone knows true terror until they have to live with the constant fear that any day they'll get a call saying their mother has passed.
I answered and waited...
"Edan," My mom's cold and scratchy voice carried into the the handset.
I let out and audible sigh of relief, "Yeah?"
"Come now.... Bring Toby and Marco with... you." She said slowly.
I nodded even though she coudn't see it. "Alright," I replied before hanging up. "Yo, Marco. Moms wants to see you... like now."
"Alright, hop in."
"I'm coming too..." I heard Isabel say. "You can tell me stuff about you on the way there."
I didn't even feel like arguing. My mom wanted us next to her, and she wanted us now. I don't have the time to argue with a spoiled rich girl, who thinks starting the project right away will get her some typ eof fucking super A.
That's all for now! Comment, vote, and follow!
