"Sometimes the right path, isn't the easiest one."

I could feel my chocolate coloured eyes moving rapidly as they followed various teenagers going about their daily lives. My small frame leaned up against the smooth, black bumper of Harper's car, as I stood waiting for the boys to FINALLY leave the school. My fingers absentmindedly moved to my hair, twisting it around themselves. A small smile occupied my lips as I realised, It'd finally started growing back.

I let my mind wonder back to the day I had just endured. Hectic was one way to describe it. Being the new kids sucked, it was awkward, boring, and if I admit it, maybe even a little scary. Although I had decided being back at school, in a new town, with a new start was good for me. I could finally start to rebuild my life, and find myself again.

I had tried my best to ignore the boys for the rest of the day after my little incident at lunch, and surprisingly,  it moved swiftly without any further implications. If I had a lesson with one of them, I simply ignored them. My actions could be seen childish, but who cares? I'm not ready to forgive and forget. I was too angry to even look at them. Although, I did have to admit, I only really had a problem with Harper.

My fingers brushed the long sleeves of my top. The new habit I had developed.

Clementine and her friend Lillian spent an hour blabbering on about what they were going to wear tonight, informing me to dress nicely. I had laughed when Lillian had mentioned for me to dress nice, did she expect me to turn up in a bin bag?

I shook my head at the thought, laughing softly to myself when I felt my Apple Watch ping, I suddenly became aware of the time, it was getting late. School had gotten out just under half an hour ago, and here I was, standing here like a lemon in a deserted school parking lot. Unhappily, I pulled my phone from my pocket and began typing in the group chat named the 'Greene Gang,' letting them know I was waiting.

I waited ten whole minutes before checking my phone again, no reply. Throwing my arms out in exasperation, i finally realised if I wanted to get home, I'd have to walk.  Gathering not only my courage but my stuff, I began to exit the school gates, walking in the general direction of home.

I wasn't far away from home when my phone rang from my back pocket, making me jump.

"Where the hell are you?!" Came a voice from the speakers.

"I'm walking myself home, as you lot left me stranded." I replied, pulling my bag more securely around my shoulders.

"Harper! She's walking home!" He said out, his voice muffled, as if his fingers were covering the mic.

What a little snitch! I thought angrily, making a mental note to strangle him when he gets home.

"Relax, I'm almost home," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Where are you? We'll pick you up," Haiden's voice came again.

"Like I said, I'm nearly home. You can stop fussing now."

Haiden must've passed the phone to Harper, because it was his voice that I heard next.

"Holland, don't be difficult, this is the last time we're asking. Where are you?"
