We jumped up but Charge Nurse Charlie Fairhead, a man who had donated 30 years to the patients of Holby reached the phone first, his face went from happy to serious in a matter of seconds, as we approached we heard his side of the conversation and he was quickly taking notes "urr uh, eta 5 minutes, unknown number of patients, thank you bye bye."

He turned to Connie and said "Connie we've a mass casualty accident, I need your help getting the non emergents discharged or moved to a ward or to St James, Ethan I need you to go and prep resus and paeds resus too, let's make sure we fast bleep all available anaesthesiologists and make sure that the blood bank has all available O-neg on stand by." And as if by magic the team started to go off and get the ED ready for whatever is going to come our way, all patients who were well enough were told to make there way to there GP or walk in centre or even St James ED as we Holby City were the receiving hospital of most of the patients as we are an MTC who specialise in this.

As the team finished finalising the last few touches to the department Charge Nurse Jacob Masters and Charlie stood at the front with Ms Beauchamp and Charlie started to tell us what had happened, "we are expecting casualty's with flash burns and possible chemical burns which we have just got word from from 3 separate crews out in the field, they've started decontamination out in the field but until we know what sort of chemicals we are dealing with all patients must go through the decontamination tent out in the car park again just please try not to make any skin on skin contact with your patient please use additional PPE which will be distributed quite soon, I know this can be scary especially with the influx of patients we're about to receive but please if you need to talk the on call psychologist will be on hand for anyone who needs it, right then let's crack on if I can have David, Robyn Louise and Duffy into resus, Alicia, Ethan, Connie and Dylan I also need you in resus."
