We drive, For what seems like forever in the dead, awkward silence between us. I think of a good conversation starter...
"So what do u want to eat today?" Travis got the first words in.
"Not sure." I actually want some bacon right now. mmmm... Oh my god, that sounds delicious! More silence. "bacon. I really want some bacon right now." I say while nodding my head. Travis looks over at me and smiles.
"Me too." he says. "And maybe some Mickey Mouse pancakes." he laughs. " I used to love those as a kid." I was surprised, I Didn't realize we had a lot in common.
"me too. Jane's dinner used to make the best Mickey Mouse pancakes. My dad used to take me there every Monday before school."
"Really?" His dad sounds pretty damn awesome!
"Yeah, sometimes I would be late for school. Then my mom bitched off to him all the time. When I defended my dad she would always slap me. She said that I was only on his side because he gave me really good breakfast and I missed the first 20 minutes of reading class."
"Oh." I said. He made him mom sound like a real bitch, maybe she was, I don't know.
"I think I see it." Travis said, as if he was trying to get off the subject of his past life. We drove a little down the road and pulled in the driveway. We got out and started walking towards the door. It was a small building. It was brown, with a tiny purple roof. The windows had a pink frame. a little old fashioned for me, but it was kinda cute- for a building that old.
We walked inside. A nice, perky lady greeted us with a smile. She was a little older than me. "Do you want a table?"
"No we want the floor." I said. It was rude, but the words just flew out of my mouth. She almost laughed I think, but I wasn't sure. "Sorry, I sorta always wanted to say that. my parents never let me. It was really rude. I'm sorry. Yes, we would like a table."
She smiled.
"Don't worry about it. no one has ever said that to me, and it was kinda funny. Your table will be over here. Follow me."
We walked next to each other, behind the lady. our hands brushed next to one another. At one moment I thought Travis was going to hold my hand, but he didn't. To be honest I would have liked that.
We look at the table, it was a booth. I sat down first. Travis looked at the other side then back at me. He slowly sat down across from me. I think he wanted to sit next to me, but I wasn't for sure.
"What would you like to drink?" the perky lady said.
Travis answered first. He is more out going than I am. "Coffee. Black, please."
"Okay." she writes it down. "and you?" she turns towards me.
"Uhhh.... Coffee also. can you bring me sugar and creamer?"
"Okay.. and yes I can."
Travis said, "Where is the bathroom?"
"Right over there." she points to a door in the back labeled 'men'.
"Thanks." he says and They both leave me sitting alone in the booth.
Sorry! Boring chapter I know. I'm a little down today. My best friend is pissed at me and I don't really know why. Apparently she can't take a joke, if she is mad at me for what I think it might be. :/
I will try to update more often, but there is a lot going on in my life right now. Sorry.
