Chapter 14: Shocking Twist

The very next day, Asher, Alice, and Jeremy had the perfect plan to trap the escaped prisoners that were obsessed with the black hoodie.  Since Wallace Burke was no longer a problem, they all decided that it would be easy to capture the fugitives.  Alice was trying to stay calm but in actuality, she feared for her unborn child.  Yes, she was pregnant.  She planned to tell Asher over a candle lit dinner but all of this deterred that from happening.  She finally told him. Asher whispered, "I am so excited that I am going to be a father!  We are going to celebrate with a beach vacation in California for a week.  I love you so much, Alice.  You will always be my everything, kitten!  My beautiful wife is going to be a wonderful mother!"  He gave her a lot of kisses while Jeremy was on the phone with Penny.  Alice replied, "I can't wait for that much needed vacation with you!  You are going to be a great dad, Asher!  I have to call my parents and Ashton to tell them the wonderful news!" 

Before she was able to do that, Jeremy came into the room looking pale in the face.  He barely could form a sentence.  He stuttered, "Penny...I heard her scream then the line went dead.  A guy got on the phone and said, 'Such a shame to kill such a beautiful girl.  Goodbye Alice.'  She was on her way back from visiting family.  How could this happen?"  Jeremy was a nervous wreck as tears came down his face.  He was fueled by anger and hate.  Jeremy had his gun ready and said with a booming voice, "Asher, are you coming with me?  We need to kill those psychos now!"  Alice said calmly, "What about the plan?  They killed Penny thinking she was me unless this is all a game to them.  They want to make us angry and go in there guns blazing." 

Jeremy was brought back to reality when Asher said, "We will get them but you know that you need to obey the law since you are a police man.  I will call Nick and Ashton.  Don't worry, Jeremy.  We will stop those people."  Jeremy calmed down then spoke, "Alice, you need to stay out of this now.  They are after you and the only way to keep you and your unborn child safe is to listen to me."  Alice looked at him challengingly and said, "Nowhere is safe until they are caught.  The only way I will be secure is if I am right by Asher's side."  Asher agreed saying, "I am not leaving her side and my first priority is my family.  Kitten and me are a package deal, Jeremy.  I know you mean well but you need to trust what we are saying." 

Jeremy's phone rang and it was Penny's number.  He answered, then Penny's voice said, "Wow I can't believe you fell for the game I played.  Wallace was special and he is dead thanks to you, Jeremy.  We fell in love the day I started flirting with him.  You are so stupid and naive.  Try and stop me!  I am now in charge of the black hoodie brigade.  It will all come to an end very soon.  I never liked Alice and I used you all to have a place to stay.  My family disowned me because I was crazy and insane according to them.  They were suppose to die but they left the country before my plan could come together.  See you soon."  Jeremy had a look of horror on his face and told them what happened with Penny. 

They had Nick, Tara, and Ashton to come over from next door.  They were excited that Alice was pregnant and were on edge after learning that Penny was psychotic like Wallace had been.  Jeremy was a mess since his girlfriend was a lying and cheating psychopath.  Nick spoke, "Your plan to get the black hoodie fanatics out in the open is to taunt them?"  Asher said, "I want to be the bait for them because Alice certainly cannot be since she is pregnant." Tara agreed with Asher saying, "Alice cannot be involved with this because of the danger."  Alice sighed and said, "I appreciate all of your concerns but I am going to help take them down.  No one will be safe if they are after all of us."  Ashton commented, "I may not like you getting in the middle of this, sis but you are right. They won't stop until they kill us all." 

Asher spoke softly in Alice's ear, "I know I won't talk you out of it but do me a favor.  Promise that whatever happens that you will stay close to me and not put yourself in harms way.  I love you!"  She gave him a reassuring kiss and replied, "Ash, I will stay close to you and you have to promise to not do anything stupid like getting shot.  I can't almost lose you again!"  He hugged her and whispered, "I won't be shot again because Jeremy brought me a gun.  Never thought I would have to use one but this will be the first and last time." 

Nick and Ashton used Jeremy's phone in order to trace where Penny called from and they found her location.  It was 30 minutes away at the old abandoned warehouse close to the ocean.  They were going to end this once and for all.  Penny and the black hoodie followers were going to be stopped at all costs.  Jeremy radioed for back up telling the dispatcher that the escaped convicts were hiding out at the old warehouse.  Alice was holding Asher's hand tightly as they packed into two cars.  Nick, Tara, Alice, and Asher were in one car while Ashton and Jeremy were in the police cruiser.  They had no idea what they were going to be up against.  Who would make it out alive?
