sleepwalking through life,
sleepwalking through strife.
daydreaming about happier times,
then you came into my life.

The wind howled as Jack Newbury woke up in the middle of a field. The night sky was beautiful and the stars shone brightly.

Jack shivered as he wore only a t-shirt and pants

Jack shivered as he wore only a t-shirt and pants. He curled up his toes, they were freezing. His deep brown eyes travelled around the field and then he noticed her. A girl. She lied on the ground with a jacket under her.
Her chest moved up and down as she inhaled and exhaled.

"What the hell? Where am I?", he thought and rubbed his forehead. The girl's eyes opened slowly. Her lips trembled as she yawned. She got up and streched her arms.
"Sleepy boy, you're awake", she finally said and her eyes lit up.

He had so many question. Why did she have nickname for him? How did he end up in here? Who is she?
He closed his eyes for a second and took a deep breath. Now was not a good time to freak out.
Jack squeezed the bridge of his nose and finally asked: "Who are you?"

She looked at her feet smiling and brushed strands of hair behind her ear. Her green eyes met Jack's brown ones and she carefully put out her hand: "I'm Achelois Davis." She cringed at her own voice, which came out higher than she had expected.
Achelois tried to be confident but always
ended up scrunching her nose and mentally slapping herself.

"I'm Jack. Jack Newbury", he said and took her hand shaking it.
By the look on his face, Achelois knew that he was confused of her name.

"You're probably thinking about my name, huh?"
She knew that people usually reacted like
that when they heard her name, so she continued: "It's okay, people tend to get weirded out by my name. My mom is a mythologist, she was always interested mostly in greek mythology. Achelois is a greek moon goddess, whose name translates to 'she who washes away pain'."

Jack looked down at her and examined her face. Green eyes, brown long hair, rosy cheeks. She literally looked like a greek goddess.
At least that's what came into his mind first.
"Uh... so, where are we?" he asked scratching his neck.

Achelois smiled and pointed out a sign, which said "ALABAMA WELCOMES YOU".
It sounded a bit aggressive to Jack, but he didn't really care at the moment, because his eyes flashed in pure horror. "We are in Mobile", she clarified. "And you have a very weird look on your face. Are you okay, Jack?"

"I'm from New Orleans", he said staring into nothingness.
"New Orleans? As in Louisiana? As in 2 days from here?", she asked raising her voice a bit.
Jack wasn't able to say anything, but he nodded for an answer.

"Oh shit, how did you sleepwalk for 2 days straight?"
Achelois said and blushed with embarrassment.
"I fucked up, I fucked up", she thought to herself.
He was about to give an answer, but ended up asking: "How did you know that I sleepwalk?"

She looked at him, but definitely had trouble
maintaining eye contact.
"Umm... I was awake when I saw you from my bedroom window. I climbed out of the window
and followed you here. That sounds so creepy, I'm sorry",  Achelois said covering her face with her hands in embarrassment.

"I wanted to make sure that you're alright", she spoke and nodded to the cars passing the field. It was about 2 am and Jack still saw several cars passing by.
Then it hit him: Achelois was afraid that he'd get hit by a car if she let him sleepwalk by himself.

"Oh."

Jack bit his bottom lip. A girl that he had just met, told him that she wanted to make sure that
he's alright and the only thing that he lets out from his mouth, was "oh".

A silence fell between them.

"Uhh... so what are you going to do?"
"No idea", Jack answered quickly.

Achelois felt awkward, but she came up with an idea.
"What if we walk to my house, spend the night there and in the morning you can call your parents and they can pick you up?"

Jack lifted up his head to look her in the eyes.
"Okay, sure. Are your parents home? Do they mind me coming there?"

Achelois nodded her head: "They are home, definitely sleeping and they don't mind. Mom and dad are so friendly, they will probably treat you as if you were Freddie Mercury. And we'll take care of you until your parents arrive."

Jack chuckled at her joke. Achelois started walking away from him as she played with the long grass. She looked over her shoulder, smiled and slightly yelled at him: "Are we going or what?"

She stopped and turned to look at the brown haired somnambulist. He smiled and started running towards her.
Achelois giggled and ran away from him, going to the direction of her home.
