Chapter Twelve: People Like To Leave.

It's been six days since I brought Sunny into the family. My parents are leaving later today and Paul is leaving at five o'clock tomorrow morning. Meadow is going to be a friends house all weekend so I'm going to be home with the dogs.

My mom woke me up to say she wanted to go shopping and go out to eat one more time. She wanted everyone to go. She left my room. I didn't feel like washing my hair so I brushed it and put it into a messy but secure bun. I washed off my makeup from the day before and put on mascara and eyeliner. I went to my closet and put on a tank top that said,"Live for the beach", white booty shorts, and sparkly converses. I put my phone in my pocket and walked out. Paul handed me a cup of coffee as I entered the kitchen. "What are we doing today," I asked. "Shopping and lunch. Just the five of us," my mom said. "Okay," I replied.

My parents followed in Paul's Porsche behind Paul, Meadow, and I, in the Mustang. When we got to the mall we went crazy with shopping. Meadow and I bought a crap ton of tanks, crop tops, and shorts, my mom bought capris and some tops that Meadow and I forced her to buy, Paul got a couple shirts and stuff he could wear in Taiwan, my dad got some Hawaiian looking shirts.

We went to Olive Garden to eat. We were seated instantly and ordered our drinks. We had an awkward silence moment. "So Paul your leaving for Taiwan in the morning," my mom asked. "Yes, I'll be back for the wedding," he replied. "Good because the groom has to be at his own wedding," she joked. "That's what I told him," I teased. He playfully punched me. I snuggled up to his arm. I kissed his shoulder. "You both are so cute," my mom said. "More like gag me with a spoon," Meadow joked. I stuck my tongue out at her. "Your turning into a teenager," my dad said. "Let's face it, I've never grown up," I joked.

We ate and then went home to get my parents' bags. When we pulled up to the same spot I picked them up, almost two weeks ago, I saw my brother. My mom was crying. She hadn't seen Kale in a long time. They hugged. "Brooke told me you guys were leaving today. I needed to see you off," Kale said. "My sweet sweet boy," my mom said. My dad shook his hand and then they hugged. "I know it has to be short cause you guys have a flight but goodbye," Kale said. I hugged both my parents. "Call me anytime. Love you guys. See you at the wedding," I said. "We love you too. Come and visit," my mom replied. We hugged again. They left into the airport to leave for home.

I took Kale home so he didn't have to take a cab. When I got home it was dark outside. Paul was in bed since we had to wake up so early. I took a quick shower and then laid next to him. I snuggled him. "I'm going to miss you," I said. "I'm gonna miss you too," he replied. We kissed. "Night," I said so softly. "Goodnight," Paul replied with a soft kiss on my forehead.

Paul woke me up at three in the morning. I was so tired. I slumped to the bathroom and pulled my hair into a high ponytail. I went to the closet and put on a sweatshirt and yoga shorts. I slipped on UGG boots and went to the kitchen. Paul came inside from taking his bags out to his truck. He took my hand and led me to his truck. We then left.

When we got to the private plane Paul and his friends would be on, everyone was in a hurry. They were getting their supplies on board along with supplies for the people they were going to help. When they were done and starting to board Paul came up to me. He held both my hands. "I'll see you soon Brookie Cookie," he said. "I know, just be safe," I replied. "Don't worry I will be. We have so many years ahead of us. Don't be afraid of something like that," Paul assured. "I'm not afraid of something like death Paul. I'm afraid of not being with you," I argued. "Your not losing me anytime soon." He sealed our conversation with a kiss. "I love you," he said. "I love you too," I replied. He let go of my hands and started walking away. "Paul," I yelled. "What," he yelled back. "Don't call me Brookie Cookie!" He laughed, smiled, blew a kiss, and then walked away.

I got into the drivers seat of Paul's truck and watched the plane lift off. A few minutes pass and they disappear into the clouds. I started driving home. When I was almost home I got a text from Tamara, Kale's wife. The text read,"Brooke, Kale just got into a car accident. They don't know if he's going to make it." I don't know if it was shock, I don't know if I shut down mentally or lost all functions in my body, but nothing was working. I just stared at my phone with my foot on the gas pedal. My whole body went numb. It was like slow motion. The truck started picking up speed.

People say before you face death that you see your whole life flash before your eyes. I saw my whole life flash before my eyes when I sped past a red light and got nailed by a semi. My truck flipped a couple of times and settled on its top. My arms hung above my head and my head was spinning.

I first thought of Paul, then Kale, then my parents. Paul was on his way to Taiwan, Kale was half dead, and my parents were probably just landing in Hawaii. I saw a bigger guy come up to the drivers window. "Hello? Are you okay?" I just looked at him. I then saw black.

I woke up in the hospital with shooting pain in my back. I heard someone outside my room talking on the phone. It was a mans voice. They were saying,"No, no, Paul. You stay in Taiwan. I'll take care of Brooke and Meadow. They'll be fine in my care. Brooke's lucky the trucking company isn't pressing charges though." He waited for a minute and then said,"Well her brother got into an accident tonight as well and he's on life support. They might take him off of it." He waited anther minute,"Those people need your help. I'll take care of everything here. And yes I'll tell them you love them and I'll tell Brooke you're sorry about Kale. I'll have her call you soon." Nothing else was said.

After the mans conversation they came into my room. It was Vin. I gave him a weak smile. "Hi Brooke," he greeted. "What happened," I asked. "You got into a car accident. Do you remember why," he asked. "Kale, Tamara told me about Kale," I replied. "Kale got into an accident as well. He was driving his motorcycle and was hit by a speeding pick up. He's on life support. They may have to take him off," he said. Tears rolled down my face. This was the worst situation ever.

A/N So this chapter was everywhere. The title makes sense now huh? Everyone Likes To Leave. Paul left, her parents left, and her brother might die. How do you feel about the accident? Ah!
