There is always this one man who thinks he has everything. We despise him, some may even hate him. Because he is everything that we aren't, right?
But have you ever tried to look behind this façade? Tried to think that maybe, it just isn't as he always says?

Here begins the Story of the one and only Dr. Connor Rhodes. He was 35 years old and passionate about his job as a Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Fellow. He wasn't the most liked man at the hospital of Chicago Med. Most of the people there disliked him because of his attitude. The man that had everything.

His job? Was perfect, good paying and very rewarding. He had the looks of a very handsome man and women were something he never needed to worry about.

Sounds like he's being an asshole? You are not that wrong but all he ever wanted is to forget and his lifestyle helped. Until this one memorable moment that changed his life. Forever.

It knocked on his door on a Saturday morning. For once he was off shift and cleaned his house. He didn't expect someone to knock on his door on a Saturday morning. He turned off the stove. Quickly washed his hands and went to the front door of his contemporary house with a large driveway and an unusually big Garden in the back. He opened the door and saw a serious looking woman with a little girl which was almost crying. He had a lot of patients and he knew when they were shortly before crying.

After a short "Hello" from Connors side, he asked, "How may I help you?" he didn't expect any visitors today.

"Hello, Are you Connor Rhodes?" the woman asked friendly.

"Yes, may I know why?" he had to be kind and patient because there was this little girl.

"My Name is Jeanine Wilson. I am from DCFS Chicago. Would it be possible to come in?"

"Yes, can I offer you something to drink?" Connor asked and wondered why DCSF was here. He walked them over to his kitchen.

"For me a glass of water. What would you like to drink Sophia?" now he knew how the little girl was called. She had curly blonde hair, was around three years old and looked quite sad. Sophia didn't respond and Jeanine just sat her on one of the chairs at the breakfast aisle.

"A hot chocolate then?" he more asked then stated. He couldn't just make something. The girl might be allergic to something. Jeanine nodded and Connor filled a pot with milk and put on the stove. While the milk was getting warm he filled up a glass of water for the DCFS lady. He quickly went to one of the cabinets higher up and took the cocoa powder out. He always had some at hand for his nephew and niece.

"Could you please tell me why you are here?" He asked after setting the chocolate milk in front of the girl.

"Do you know a Ms. Victoria Granger?" the name sounded very familiar to him.

"Yes, we were in a relationship three years back." he didn't tell her that Victoria was the only stable Girlfriend he ever had. She didn't need to know, she also didn't need to know that the break-up was anything but nice.

He looked at Sophia and suddenly he didn't feel good anymore. Was she respective he really the reason for this break-up?

"She was in a car accident a few days ago. DUI. She did not make it and left behind her three-year-old daughter Sophia. This little girl here..." she told him and he remembered her. She was a special one. He didn't just have a fling with her. Although the relationship didn't last longer than a month. But enough to remember her. It slowly dawned on him that Sophia might be his daughter?

"Is she...mine?" he slowly and carefully asked and the lady nodded.

"Yes, you were listed as the father at her birth and therefore her legal guardian now." and a world came just crashing down. He's a father. From one to the other second he became a father. He wasn't ready to be one and neither was he a suitable father.
