A week passed without any information from Erin. I had the lunch “date” with Sarah and Sophia had her first therapy session. The afternoon after the first session was tense at home. The therapist only let me in for about half an hour. The other half an hour Sophia was in there without me. I wanted to be there for her, but I understood that she needed the time to talk to someone else without me. Although I was told that Sophia didn’t really talk.

The lunch with Sarah was okay. I was mostly cooking while Sarah was playing with Sophia. That’s what I wanted, and they seemed to get along, so I set future dates with Sarah for the next two weeks, were I had shift, and Sophia would’ve been alone. I had to ask her if she could take Sophia on Christmas Eve. Christmas wasn’t important to me, so I agreed for the shift, so Will could spend Christmas with Natalie and Owen. But now, I have Sophia to think about. But I couldn’t back out now, gladly I could spend Christmas morning with Sophia.

I informed her about the Therapy sessions Sophia would have, so that Sarah could take her there and maybe take part in one session as well.

At least that was taken care of now. I only had to find out if Erin had found anything.

18th December

Hi Connor
Please call me once you have time.

3.20 pm

I had shift, so I didn’t see Erin’s text until 7 pm. Once my shift was over I called her.

“Hi Erin, sorry I’m calling so late. Do you have any news?” I asked her. Erin was already off work, so I felt bad for disturbing her. But I needed to know if she had any news.

“Connor, don’t worry. Yes I have, but not good ones. As already suspected Sophia might have been abused by Victoria’s boyfriend. I would like to discuss this in person at the district.” she said and I wasn’t surprised. She wanted to make sure that I don’t kill him in state of rage I probably would have.

“Sure, I’m off tomorrow, so I will come by tomorrow at the district. Is that alright?” I asked her and she confirmed, so we hung up. I really would’ve liked to know more tonight, but I had to pick up Sophia from my sister.

After arriving home I brought a tired Sophia to bed and made myself some dinner. Claire confirmed, that Sophia already had dinner with them.

At nine I went to bed, so that I wasn’t too tired in the morning, because Sophia seems to be an early riser. Me not so much, but there was little I could do.

The next morning we had Pancakes for Breakfast. Something I had to learn first. But Sophia loves them. I assume. It’s not like she would tell me.

Sophia went straight to her little play area and played. She does it all the time and I wondered why. But then I realized, that I wouldn’t want to play in this room either.

“Sophia, what do you think about going Shopping for your room?” I asked her and she looked at me.

“My room?” was one question I didn’t want to hear. I really did screw up. But I was willing to change it now.

“Yes and it’s going to be like you want it. I’m sorry Princess, I should have tried harder.” I apologized. I needed to. What Sophia did next was our moment. She stood up and walked over to me to give me a hug. Her first hug for me. Please don’t tell anyone, but I almost shed a tear or two. Maybe these sessions would really work.

“Sarah?” Sophia asked me after she hugged me. I didn’t exactly know what she meant but I had an idea.
