You may have heard the stories of horrible sirens that bring sailors to their deaths but you may not know this one particular story. It all started on a sunny afternoon, the sky was a bright blue with not one cloud in the sky. The waves crashed onto the beach in a calm manner. The water was a beautiful blue, where you could see your feet from the bottom on the sandy floor. It was a quiet little beach with a lonesome house about half a mile away from the beach. The house wasn't abandoned, a little family lived there. A mother who looked like perfection, her beautiful green doe eyes, that shined like the forest on a dewy morning. She was a petite woman, all the others would look down the street and envy her as she walked past them. She had hair the color of dark fire but in the sun it would shine a bright vibrant red. This woman was very admirable, she would treat others with respect and love. The father, well he was the exact opposite, to others he looked like a normal man, but he wasn't. He was the meanest man you could ever encounter, but he only acted this way towards his family. He would drink till he couldn't walk or till he passed out. The mother tried to stop him but it would result in her only getting yelled at or pushed, the man had never hurt the mother or child but he would yell or lock them in rooms for countless hours at a time while he left to go drink more or sleep. The child was a girl, she was small and short only being the age of 7. She had her mother's red hair but her father's blue eyes, her eyes sparkled with that pure innocents only children hold. The child's name is lucy or Lulu as her mother would call her. Lulu loved the ocean, it's the place she felt at home. She always goes to the little beach when her parents are fighting or her father is drinking. She would skip rocks into the water or draw in the sand with a stick. Now that you know that little family let's continue this story shall we . This afternoon was like every other, Lucy's father was drinking once again. Lucy's father took another swig of the vodka bottle and sat on the couch. "ugh , damn Mr. Carterson. I fucking hate Him" He turned on the T.V to watch some sports not really focused on it. Little Lucy skipped down the stairs in a very happy mood, she was on her way to go visit the beach. She stopped at the bottom of the old brown stairs and slowly peered over to the living room where her father sat. He father threw the bottle at the wall as it smashed to little pieces. "Dammit! It's empty" he got up out of his chair and walked to the kitchen. Lucy took a deep breath when she realized she was holding her breath. She saw the front door and made a dash for it, but of course fate was to on her side. She crashed right into her father. "P-Papa!" she stuttered, her mother wasn't home at the time so she thought it was best to leave before this happened, him being drunk. Her father glared down at her. She looked up at him to see his eyes glossy, those glossy dark blue eyes. "What the hell are you doing, you little shit!" he shouted in her face, "N-Nothing, P-Papa..." she looked down hopping he would get back to drinking and leave her alone. He laughed, "now that I think about it, why are you here...HUH!? We don't need you, we hate you!" He screamed, her father pushed her to the ground. Lucy looked up at him with her big doe eyes, scared. He has never pushed her it was always her mother, she was scared, she wanted her mother. "P-Please Papa....I will leave" her small child voice said. He chuckled "No, That's just not enough." he walked back into the kitchen and pulled out a knife, but when he returned, Lucy was gone and the front door was wide open. He screamed and ran out the front door, he looked around and thought about it for a second. "The Beach" He whispered. Lucy stood at the beach, she was gasping for air. She wiped the tears falling from her blue eyes. "Mama!" she cried out. She looked into the water and her eyes widened. A girl that was about the same age as Lucy was in the water, she had silver hair that came to her shoulders. Her hair had shells and small starfishes in it. She had pink eyes with a tint of purple but that wasn't the weirdest part, she had a fish tail. "M-Mermaid?!" The mermaid smiled and swam closer to the shore. " what seems to be the problem?" she asked and tilted her head a little. Lucy's eyes lit up and she forgot all about her father, forgot about the word itself. "W-Wow! you're a mermaid, you are very pretty!" Lucy squealed with excitement. Lucy turned her head and saw a car coming down the road from the opening of the gate to the beach. She recognized the car as her father's. She gasped and backed up her feet now in the water. The waves crashed against the shore. "Lucy, what's wrong?" the mermaid looked behind Lucy. "You dumb brat, what the hell are you doing?!" her father yelled from across the beach, he started walking towards Lucy with his knife in one hand. Tears started to fall down Lucy's face "Mama.." she whimpered quietly. "Lucy cover your ears!" the mermaid yelled, Lucy looked back at her "Just do it!" Lucy quickly cover her ears tightly. A melody could be heard but it was very faint. Her father stopped moving and he dropped the knife. It was as if he was being controlled. The mermaid continued singing her eyes turning a dark pink. Lucy's father came closer and closer to falling into the arms of the mermaid. He walked passed Lucy and walked into the water as the mermaid swam farther out to sea. He was finally swimming in the water with the mermaid. She smiled and held onto his shoulders and swam deep into the ocean, dragging him down. Lucy waited a bit and uncovered her ears. "P-Papa?...", she turned around and looked into the sea. The mermaid was there in the water swimming closer to the shore. "Lucy?" Lucy sat in the sand, holding her knees to her chest and her red hair covering her icy blue eyes. "W-What did you do?" she questioned The mermaid reached out to her but Lucy flinched away, "Y-You killed him!", the mermaid sighed "Lucy I know you don't understand now but you will soon, when you are older you will understand everything. When that time comes come back to me, Alright Lulu" The mermaid gave Lucy a small kind smile and swam back into the water but called out "When you come back call out Nixie", Nixie dived into the water. Suddenly the mermaid dove into the water and Lucy got a good look at her tail, it was a purple fading into a light pink. "So pretty" she whispered softly. Lucy stared at the water, the exact spot where her water was drowned. What was the right way for her to feel? Happiness? Sadness? Was she glad? There was nothing going through her head. She didn't notice the car racing into the parking lot of the beach or the police cars. She turned around to see her mother rushing towards her while the police started looking around. "LUCY?!" Lucy heard her mother's panicked voice call out, she quickly sat up. "Mama!?" Lucy ran towards her mother and hugged her tightly. "Oh Lucy, I'm so sorry. Let's go." Her mother picked up Lucy and walked back to her car. Lucy looked back at the water and saw Nixie waving back at her, Lucy stared at her waving back.
