DATE NIGHT PT. 1
mona had been planning this date for a while, wanting to make it something cute that they would both enjoy. she kept herself very casual because although this was a cute date, she didn't want to do anything too fancy this early on.
she threw on a t-shirt, bomber jacket, and some jeans, putting on her usual pair of worn out vans. she waited impatiently on the couch for joe to arrive, tapping her foot on the ground to try and keep her nerves at bay.
her head shot up when she heard a knock at the door, making sure she had her phone and her wallet before walking to answer the door, smoothing out her already straight shirt out of habit. she opened it, smiling at the boy in front of her, letting out a small 'hi' as she slipped out of the door, not wanting him to see the surprise she had waiting inside. she took his hand, starting to walk down the hallway to the elevator to go back downstairs.
"we're taking my car by the way. i don't want you to know where we're going." she kept her voice soft, half to because she didn't want to disturb the other people in the building, the other half because although they had been talking for almost two months, she still found herself getting nervous around him.
he nodded in response, squeezing her hand the slightest bit. "that's alright. i'm still curious about what we're doing even though you told me you'd take me out demogorgan style. which honestly is a little hot but very, very scary. you realise the demogorgan eats people, right?" he chuckled, raising an eyebrow at her.
"yes i realise he eats people. but you know who else ate people? a lot of serial killers. and even though i had a crush on you before you even knew i existed you still came to me wanting to know me. and for all you know i could very well be a serial killer or cannibal." she spoke matter-of-factly, raising her eyebrows back at him.
he let out another shorter laugh, tilting his head slightly to the left. "you know what, you're absolutely right. guess i shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. or a girl by her love for human flesh."
they made it down to the lobby after a few minutes, going to the parking garage just outside to get her car. he opened the driver side door for her, going around to get in when she was inside. she started the engine, pulling out of her parking spot to head down to the street.
she handed him her phone, "the passcode is 6662. don't ask it's not satanic. go in to my spotify and turn something on please. but nothing weird. or i'll flip this car. i'm not kidding." she teased, turning down a street with plenty of restaurants to choose from. she parked in front of a small pizza place, turning to look at him for a second. "this is it. no one really knows about it but it's so fucking good." she turned the car off, unbuckling her seatbelt. "so don't go and tell everyone about my secret spot or else your ass is grass."
"you're very aggressive. you know that? you're always threatening me." he joked back, unbuckling his own seat belt before they both got out of the car. he waited for her to walk to him, wrapping an arm around her loosely, following her into the restaurant.
they were sat almost immediately, only a few other groups of people scattered around the building. a woman in a black t-shirt and jeans walked up, holding a small notepad in her hand. "hi, my name is grace and i'll be your server today. can i get you guys started with something to drink?"
"i'll just take a water." mona said softly, looking at the menu afterward.
"i'll have a water too. thank you." joe smiled politely, looking toward mona for a second and then down at the menu. "so what's good here? or are we just gonna share? because i don't mind either way."
"i really only get the cheese or pepperoni. i'm a basic that's all i like." she glanced up at him, smiling softly. "so if you want something with more than just those then you can get something on your own. but we can share if you'd like."
he nodded in response, closing his menu. "then we can do half cheese, half pepperoni, all happy bellies." he sat back in his seat, looking around the building. "this place is cute, but if their food doesn't live up to how much good press you're giving them i'm going to be a little disappointed."
"well i don't like pizza usually. so if i like a pizza it's probably fucking amazing." she teased, closing her menu as well. she looked over when the waitress came up, thanking her for their drinks and ordered their meal, handing her both of their menus.
it wasn't that long of a wait before the waitress came back with their food, placing it in between them. they both started eating, joe letting out an over exaggerated moan to show how much he liked the food, mona giggling softly as he did.
"you're so fucking stupid, you know that? everyone is looking at us because you sound like you're fucking someone." she spoke around her food, covering her mouth with her hand.
"maybe you should get your mind out of the gutter. i'm just showing i like the food, you're the one that decided it should be seen as sexual. that's not my problem." he raised his eyebrows, taking another bite of his slice.
after a while they slowly got full, joe topping off the last slice before the waitress came back with their bill, mona taking it and giving it back with her card inside.
"i can't believe we really ate the whole thing. when i come here with sandy and kate we leave with a quarter of it. you're like a fucking vacuum."
"yeah, i guess i am. i was just hungry, can you blame me? and that shit was good i couldn't stop myself." he rubbed his stomach playfully, sitting up when her card was returned. "so where to now?"
