DATE NIGHT PT. 2
"so where to now?" joe stood up, holding his hand out for her to take. she took it, pulling herself up with it and started out the door.
"now, we go back to my house for your surprise." she got into the car, waiting until he was in as well to start it up.
"oh yeah? what kind of surprise is it?" he raised an eyebrow, looking over at her.
"not the kind you're probably thinking of. you'll see though. and i hope you like it because i worked really hard on it."
"i'm sure i will. if you made it i'll most likely love it." he beamed, reaching his hand out for her to take. she took it, squeezing his lightly.
they drove home in a comfortable silence, music playing in the background loud enough for them to distinguish what was being said, but not very loud at all. she looked over at him when she parked the car, letting go of his hand to get out. they walked to the elevators to go up to her apartment, the journey up not very long. she unlocked the door, turning to him quickly.
"i want you to close your eyes. i want what i'm showing you to be a complete surprise even though it already is a surprise. but i want it to be an extra surprise." she moved his hands to cover his eyes, opening the door when she was sure they were covered properly. "okay, no peaking." she led him into the room slowly, sitting him down on the couch before stepping back, folding her hands in front of her. "now you can open."
when he opened his eyes he was met with twinkling lights, a few lit candles, a mountain of blankets, and some snacks for them to eat.
"ta da," she smiled, holding her hands up. "do you like it? i thought we could watch a movie and wanted to set the scene."
he nodded, finding himself in awe over what she did for him. "i love it. holy shit this is amazing." he stood up to wrap his arms around her. "this is so thoughtful. thank you so much." he kissed the side of her head, her blushing softly and rested her head against his shoulder.
"i'm glad you like it. now we can watch our movie. i was thinking either it or something else if you don't want to see your costar in a different project. but you should want to support him." she started rambling, not knowing how to stop herself.
"babe, it's fine. we can watch it." he chuckled, pulling her to sit with him as he fell back onto the couch. he wrapped an arm around her, reaching for the remote so she could put the movie on. "i'd honestly watch anything with you. i just like spending time with you."
with that she blushing, hitting him playfully. "shut up! shut up or i'm not playing the movie because i won't tolerate softness when we're about to watch a horror movie."
"okay! okay! but it's the truth. i do like spending time with you."
"i like spending time with you too. or else i wouldn't have spent the last two months with you up my ass." she couldn't last long enough to make a serious statement, needing the mood to stay light so she wouldn't end up falling too fast or seeming too needy.
she put the movie on, leaning against him, pulling a blanket over the both of them. she pulled it up more on herself, looking up at him for a moment before back to the tv. and the next thing she knew she was out like a light.
