 ~ Jane's POV~

Today was the day. The day that I, Jane Arlert,  at the age of 19 would marry a man I did not love. I have been  engaged to him since I was 16, it was an arranged marriage between the Arlert and the Ackerman families. I am to be the wife of Captain Levi, I never loved him... He's too serious and uptight!   I don't understand why I have to marry him, I'm the youngest! It should have been my sister Jan, she is prettier and smarter than me. My sister has such lovely black hair and enchanting brown eyes while I have flat, sunflower blonde hair that is too thin for braiding. The only thing I love about myself is my ocean blue eyes.  I was snapped out of my daze by a knock on my door.

"Jane, are you ready?",  asked my brother Marcus from the other side of the door.

"Yeah, I guess. I don't even know if he'll show up to our own wedding", I responded as I fidgeted with my dress (A/N: picture above)

"Come on, little sis... it's not that bad."

"Easy for you to say, you're not the one throwing away their shot at life beyond these walls and marrying a man who's barely around!"

I suck it up and open the door.

"You look amazing, Jane. Levi is gonna flip when he sees you", Marcus said as he lead me to the hallway.

I cringed as I was walking down the aisle, there goes my chance of life away from this pen! Before I could even make it to the alter, a giant foot crashed through the ceiling, killing a majority of the guests. I stood in shock as a hand reached for me, this is it! I'm going to die on my wedding day! Suddenly I was pushed out of the way by my father who took my place. I felt myself being pulled away, I looked to see my brother Marcus and sister Jan. I couldn't move, so Marcus slung me over his shoulder and ran with Jan and our grandfather following close behind. I looked back and saw that Levi had already left as well.

We searched for any other survivors of the Arlert clan, we had to get out of Shiganshina. But not without Armin!

"ARMIN!", I screamed out, looking for my younger cousin.

"He's over there!", cried our grandfather. "Armin, over here!"

The blonde teen ran towards us with tears in his cerulean eyes, screaming that his friends need help.

We sat there in the boats, waiting and praying that Armin's friends made it. I was mortified, this isn't real! It's got to be a bad dream! I rocked myself back and forth with my knees close to my chest.

"What if this a sign?", I asked my family. "What if I'm not supposed to get married or even be happy!?"

"Jane, don't say that!" snapped Jan.

"Of course you are meant to be happy", added Marcus. "With or without Mom and  Dad, I promise you will get married!"

"We've been with you since birth, Jane, and that's how we'll stay."

"Together, because Arlerts are strong", said Grandpa.

"Grandpa's right",  said Armin through his tears.

We were relocated to behind wall Rose where I later got a letter from his majesty that all weddings were postponed until further notice.
