Reilley continued with her day, Defense Against the Dark Arts was next, and Reilley was excited! She heard Professor Lupin was a great teacher! She walked into class, perfectly ready for, hopefully, her best lesson yet. She sat down next to Lizzie and Meghan, since they had this class with the Ravenclaw students. Professor Lupin started class very traditionally, "Hi class, my name is Teddy Lupin, but please, call me Teddy. I will be teaching you Defense Against the Dark Arts."

"I presume you'll be teaching us curses and jinxes, right!" said a boy in the back, very rudely.

Teddy was taken aback, he replied, "Matthew, please, raise your hand"

"It's RIDDLE, to you professor," retorted Matthew. The class gasped, they all knew that the darkest wizard ever, Lord Voldemort, was named Tom Riddle. A couple girls near Matthew shrieked, and stepped away from him. Professor Teddy looked overwhelmed,

"Please class, sit down. Matthew is as normal as, err, any, of, uhh, you. Ple... Plea... Please sit down, and, err, focus on me," he stuttered. Now today we will be learning about Grindylows. He indicated a glass tank in the back, which contained a greenish humanoid creature, swimming around. "That is a Grindylow. They are sea demons that live in the lakes of Britain and Ireland. They act aggressive to muggles and wizards alike, and the only creature known to tame them are the merpeople."

"Grindylows will latch their fingers on to you, and try and drown you." The rest of the class was filled with interesting things about Grindylows, and they also learned how to defeat some. Meghan seemed to know a lot about them, and was able to answer every one of Teddy's questions. It was by far Reilley's favorite class, and was almost sad when class ended. The next class potions, which, she thought glumly, would be with Slytherin. Potions took place in the dungeons and was taught by Eleana Snape. She walked to class early, making sure her and Lizzie would sit far away from Nick. When they got to class, she saw her brother, sitting and chatting happily with Nick. Professor Snape did not introduce herself, merely stating, "Turn to page 394, and begin."

Reilley got out her book and started brewing a potion to cure poison. Reilley was a natural, but so, it appeared was Karson. Karson and Reilley both showed Snape their potion, they were identical, and both were perfect. But Snape, had a different view. "20 points for Slytherin, for Karson's excellent potion. And 10 points from Gryffindor because you copied him!" Snape exclaimed.

Reilley was furious, "I DID NOT COPY HIM!"

"Another 10 points from Gryffindor, for back talking a professor!" announced Snape coolly. The Slytherins jeered and whooped at her as she trudged back to her seat. As Snape talked about the potion, Reilley was engaged in a conversation with Lizzie.

"This is ridiculous, talk about a bias professor!" whispered Reilley.

"I know, someone has to stand up to Snape. She only likes the Slytherins" replied Elizabeth softly.

"Miss Weasley, Miss Black, continue like this and you will receive detention! And so soon in the school year too!" Snape quoted. The Slytherins started to laugh, yet again, at Reilley's expense.

The moment class was over, Lizzie took Reilley back to the common room. "I think you just need to sit down, here, I got a book for you. My dad gave it to me, I think you'll like it." Reilley took the book, it was titled, The Grim Warning, an Animagus Adventure! It was written by a man named Padfoot, what a funny pen name, Reilley thought. At the bottom, it read, In loving memory of the fallen hero. It's a great book, full of adventure!

"Thanks Lizzie! You're the best!" Reilley was grateful for something to focus her mind on beside the potions class. She hurried down to the Great Hall for dinner, ate quickly, and went up to the common room to read her new book. She read the first couple pages, then realized she had forgotten about her homework! She had to read the first couple chapters in her history textbook for Professor Binns tomorrow. She rushed to get her book, not wanting to forget an assignment so early in the year.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the common room, another student was rushing to finish his assignments. Nate Potter was writing furiously, he had to write a note to his parents, and get his history homework done. He scribbled on the note while mindlessly reading the book. Soon, Nate and Reilley were the only ones left in the common rooms. Everyone else had gone to bed. With disheveled hair Nate looked up, noticing that Reilley was the only one left in the common room. Hey Reilley, why are you here so late? "Homework," she replied. "You?"

"Same, I forgot to do history last night. And now I have to write a note to my father."

"Yeah, I have to do history too, but I got caught up reading a book Lizzie gave me."

For another 30 minutes, Reilley and Nate decided to help each other with the homework. They worked excellent as a team, what should've taken hours, took them only half an hour to complete. As Reilley walked up to the girl's dormitory, she realized she had made yet another friend. Ron had told her as she boarded the Hogwarts Express that she would make friends easily. Maybe, for once, her father was one hundred percent correct, thought Reilley.
