What felt like seconds to me was actually years to those who made sure we didn't die on our way to Pandora. Pandora was a luscious world filled with greenery that you could never see on earth. Along with it's beauty there were many mysteries that lay just below the surface. The native Na'vi were one of those mysteries that lived on Pandora and believed in the great mother Eywa. They belived that Eywa is connected to everything on the planet; from the trees, to the animal's, and even the Na'vi themselves. I had been one of the chosen few to be selected to become an avatar driver
After much time we where on the ship that would take us to the planets surface. As I was sitting I started to look at the other people around me. There where scientist, soldiers, and one man who stood out among them. He was sitting in a wheelchair but his upper body had quite a bit of muscle. He's not a soldier but he's not a scientist either I wonder what his story could be, I thought as I continued to stare. I realized after some time of staring he was also staring back
"I'm sorry for staring at you I just got curious about why your going to pandora, you don't look like much of a scientest nor a soldier," I said while scraching the back of my head trying to make the situation less awkward.
"Well I'm being sent to become an avatar driver. That's someone....," he said before I cut him off.
"I know what an avatar driver is. I'm one myself actually. I'm just curious why you decided to become one if you dont mind me asking," I said.
I had a bad habit of always trying to pry into other peoples business when I'm not supposed to. I always asked the more personal question first to get to know people on a deeper level. Even if it was the first time meeting then.
"Sorry I don't know you that well to tell you about something that personal," He said in a dull tone. It must have been something pretty bad for him to both look and sound that sad, I thought as I continued to stare at him.
Before I could ask another question one of the veteran soldiers told us to put on our exopacks. Stating that if we didn't have them we would probably die after losing consciousness after 20 seconds. As the ship landed everyone rushed out but I took my time and stayed with the mysterious man for just a bit longer.
As I stepped off the ship I was hoping to see the many plants and exotic life here on Pandora but no all I saw was a bunch of sweating neanderthal's running around a concrete playground. Great I have to rely on morons to protect me when they shoot first and never ask questions, I thought as I was walking past some other soldiers checking out the new recruits.
"Hey sweet heart why don't you come over here and check my blood pressure," jarhead said looking me up and down with a disgusting hunger in his eyes. I stopped before turing around and heading in his direction. As I walked up I gave him my sweetiest smile I could muster to lower his guard. Once it was lowered I quickly took his gun and knocked him off his feet making him hit the ground. I then pointed the gun right at his crotch
"First thing fuck boy I'm a scientist not fucking nures. Second what kind of soldier lets his weapon be taken away. Your not a man your a little boy pretending to be one," I said staring him directly in the eye before handing his gun back and walking to the avatar lab.
