CHAPTER 5: UNAVAILABLE BUT SINGLE

It's two weeks later and I spend a lot of time with Camila and Maya. Maybe I spend too much time with them. I haven't seen Macy since she visited me with Jacob. Talking about Jacob, he recently started dating Maya. He really likes her and he is thinking about asking her to be his girlfriend. I totally ship it. I don't know how Maya would react but I am sure she likes him too. When Macy saw them together she seemed jealous. I think she also doesn't like the fact that I see Camila so often. She has never been jealous before... I think I should ask her about it soon, because I don't want our friendship to die. I still love her and I miss her.

My parents and Jake are the whole weekend in Europe. I didn't want to go with them because I saw the opportunity to organize a party with the girls. Not a party where everyone is drunk and hooking up with each other. Just a night with friends, music and a sleepover. I invited Camila, Maya, Jacob, Macy and Nathan. Nathan is a friend of Jacob. Jacob literally begged if I could invite Nathan because he is his best friend. It was funny to see him this desperate. Especially when I already thought it was okay to invite him. Macy said she had other plans but I don't believe her. I really hope she will change her mind and comes to the party.

The doorbell rings and when I walk to the front door Maya is looking through the window. 'Hi! Do you need help with preparing the sleepover?' The girl with blond hair wears a white short dress. 'Wow Maya where did you get that dress? It looks amazing on you!' The girl smiles proudly and opens her bag. 'I have balloons!' She holds the balloons in front of my face. 'Really Maya? It's just a simple party. No alcohol, no loud music and no hooking up!' I try to look serious. 'Hmm... We will see. We will behave properly, but please can we get some beer?' She begs and pouts. 'Okay fine, but I will kill you if you have to throw up.' I give her a teasing look. 'Oh no I won't. Let's get some beer and after that I can help you with the mattresses for the sleepover.' She grabs her car keys and opens the front door. 'I drive!' Maya runs to the driver seat. Before I can open the door Maya locks the car from inside. 'Hey Maya that's not funny!' I laugh and pout. 'Hmm, on one condition. You have a double bed right?' I frown my eyebrows and give her a confused look. 'Yes, why?' She smirks. 'Oh nothing, just asking. You are going to do me a favor tonight.' In this moment I am even more confused than I was before. 'Um or what?' I ask her. 'Or you will have to walk to the mall.' She unlocks the car and opens my door. 'Fine. As long as you are not going to ask me if you and Jacob can sleep in my bed. I don't want you two doing things in my bed.' I try to sound serious but Maya can't stop laughing. 'Jay oh no! I would never ask you that!' She gives me a playful push. 'Okayyyy, let's talk about something else. Can I ask you something?' I ask her and she nods. 'You remember how Camila and I met? We bumped into each other two times because she fell. She panicked and kept mumbling about how stupid she was. Is she just clumsy or-' Maya stops the car and looks at me. 'Camila went through a lot. I don't know if I am allowed to tell you, so I guess you have to ask Mila. What I do know is that she really trusts you and she'll tell you when she is ready. Mila is very clumsy though.' She grabs my hand and looks me right into my eyes. 'Listen Jay, one night Mila and I went to a party. Something really bad happened there. She is traumatized and because of all the medical help she is getting better. It just takes some time to heal. That's all I can tell you, I'm sorry.' I lay my hand on her shoulder and give her an understanding look. I don't say anything but Maya knows I understand it. She starts the car and drives on full speed to the mall.

Maya rolls over the floor and laughs loud. 'I can't believe we just did that!' I am still shocked but can't help to laugh too. 'You are such a flirt! I still cannot believe you did that!' Maya sits up and gives me a serious look. 'This is our secret. Jacob can never know about this.' I nod. 'Okay I promise I won't tell him, but wow you have to teach me how to flirt like that. That boy literally ran to get beer for us.' I smile at her. 'I feel sorry for him. We just gave him the money and ran away to your car. On the other hand, I gave him a fun time and taught him to never trust a girl.' She gives me a hug. 'You're actually not that bad. You are very funny.' She teases. I look at her with widen eyes. 'Shit! What time is it? They can be here any minute! Quick, we have to put on some music and put the glasses and drinks on the table. Maya jumps up and runs into the kitchen. I hear her open the refrigerator. I make my way to the kitchen to get some glasses and snacks and place in on the table. Maya gives me a bowl for the chips. 'Thanks.' She walks to the hall and I hear footsteps on the stairs. I follow the sounds and see Maya struggling with a mattress. 'It's... Too... Heavy...' She struggles. I decide to help her. I grab the other side of the white mattress and lift it up. 'We can lay it next to my closet with the other two mattresses. Then we have three beds plus my own double bed.' Maya nods smiling. 'Well we have one problem... There are six people and five beds. Should I call-' I interrupt her. 'I can get a mattress of my brother Jake. So then we have enough beds right?' She nods and walks to Jake's room which is on the end of the hallway. I can't help not to laugh when I see the girl with blond hair struggling pushing the mattress forward into my room. She lays the mattress next to the others and let herself fall on the ocean of soft beds. 'Damn why do you have such a heavy mattresses.' I laugh and make my way downstairs. I put my favorite playlist on starting with the song "Stay" from Zedd and Alessia Cara. I love that song! The bell rings and I hear Maya opening the door. 'Hey, Jacob and Nathan are here!' Maya shouts. The two boys are now standing in the doorway. 'Hi Jayden. We brought something to drink. We thought it wasn't fair if you had to pay for everything all by yourself.' The boys smile. 'Thanks guys, that's sweet of you.' I walk them to the kitchen and point at the refrigerator. The boys get the two bottles out of their bags and put it in the fridge. Maya jumps on the back of Jacob. 'Are you guys ready to party?' She smirks.
