Chloe POV:
Here I was, in the middle of nowhere, with one bar of phone reception, and right beside the official The Voice van.
And there, in all his handsome Scottish glory, was Darren, freaking, McMullen.
So what did I do?
Stand there looking like a total dimwit, that's what.
I watched with glassy eyes as the crew unloaded their gear from the back; cameras, a boom mic, headsets, the whole shebang.
"Heather." I croaked over my shoulder. I cleared my throat, gathering my wits. "HEATHER."
She burst out of the cafe, complete with her caramel milkshake.
"IM COMING, IM-- whooaaa."
She stopped at the halfway mark between me and the cafe. She pointed at the van, her jaw on the floor.
"Is that..." She looked at me, then back at the van, then back at me again. "Is that what I think it is? Or is this milkshake making me delusional?"
"Nope, this is definitely what you think it is girls." Darren said.
Wait, DARREN?!
I whipped around, almost slaying him across the face with my heavenly flow of locks, only to find myself staring into his pretty brown eyes. He grinned at me.
"Fans of the show?" He questioned. I gulped, to shocked to speak. Was this real?
Luckily, Heather was on the ball.
"Oh YES Mr McMullen we LOVE The Voice!" She said excitedly.
"We're both Team Delta, of course, how can you not look up to a girl who has OVERCOME CANCER and has lived her dream, well her second, after a ski instructor (yes, that is true) but KEITH is so amazing, I love how he talks, and what I have seen of RICKY is that he is so dreamy, oh my gosh, but SEAL is just fabulous, I mean, that guys NAILS." She gasped dramatically. "And JOEL is cute! Like he's cheeky and adorable at the same time, who would have thought a guy with THAT MANY TATTS could be such a cutie?"
I coughed, ending her rant.
"But yeah, entirely Team Delta. She's gorgeous." I said.
"And brave." Heather added.
"Smart." I finished.
"Funny." Heather shot back. Oh it was on.
"Stylish."
"Talented."
"Inspiring."
"Shiny."
I frowned. Shiny? I turned to her.
Really? My expression said. She shrugged.
Darren was laughing. "Well it seems you two know your stuff. You locals?"
I shook my head frantically. THERE WAS NO WAY anyone was gonna be mistaking me for being a local around this place.
"Nope, we're going out to a stadium arena, that is a long way away, that seems like it's in the middle of nowhere, to see Delta perform!" Heather said happily, followed by a remote squeal, obviously enjoying this.
The truth: I didn't know where we were going either.
Darren stroked his beard thoughtfully.
"So you guys are pretty obsessed--"
"We prefer inspired. Maybe dedicated, but--"
"Heather, let the lad finish!" I intruded, without being rude.
There was a few moments of silence then a synchronized squeal of "YES!"
"Well, me and the team are here for an artist that has somewhat potential, but since you two girls seem so die hard fans, I have some tickets to whatever studio filming you desire. Would you care to accept?"
My heart, literally, stopped. Once again, I couldn't speak. Heather, once again, wasn't phased.
"Um, is that even a question?" She screamed. "We'll take them!"
"Awesome, but I can only give you a maximum of 3 though, and you girls must be over 16, or--."
"Or, I can come!"
"Nooo, muuummm"
Mothers. The people who love you the most BUT are also the people who embarrass you the most.
Mum just stood in the cafeteria doorway looking like she was trying to impress Darren with, I don't even know what it was, hands in the air - almost dropping the milkshakes - It came close to fitting the expression of a 'ta-da'. Wow.
I knew Darcy would want to come to The Voice as well; as much as she seems like one of those people that hates shows like these, and she is, she has a huge celebrity crush on Joel Madden. She'd want to be there just to be close to him.
"Yes, yes, we're 16." I said impatiently, finding my voice (no pun intended). Darren smiled humouredly.
"Love the enthusiasm!" He said, reaching into his black jacket pocket and taking out an envelope. Opening the envelope, he pulled out 3 red tickets.
This is your official GENERAL ADMISSION ticket to the recording of:
Date: (what ever filming you desire)
Arrival Time: (check out www.thevoice.com.au for session times)
Location: Fox Studios Australia. Access is via: The Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park, NSW.
PLEASE BRING THIS TICKET WITH YOU TO THE STUDIO. It will be exchanged for a wristband at the general admission audience gate.
I was glad Heather said she wanted the maximum.
Darren handed us the tickets, flashing his pearly whites.
"THANK YOU SO MUCH DARREN!" We said, the excitement so clear in our voices.
"I guess it's not goodbye!" mum screamed as the whole Voice crew headed down the road.
Am I allowed to declare that Darren is completely off-limits?
I just can't believe that after 'The Visualise Tour' and 'Believe Again', I am actually going to 'An evening with Delta: the top of my world shows'. Then in a few weeks I will be going to The Voice to see her again.
But it was driving me crazy.
I didn't and couldn't know all the important gossip. What does Darcy need to tell me? What's the deal with Delta's concert tonight?
I entered a cross between two worlds of imagination. Again.
AN - Firstly, yes I know all the dates are wrong. 'An evening with Delta' was in 2012 but Season 2 of The Voice was in 2013.
There is a major plot twist coming for this fanfic. Anything that can happen WILL happen. Chapter 6 is coming!
Thanks for reading.
