Jack woke up to find himself handcuffed to a hospital bed, and saw Boomer handcuffed to a chair across the room.
“You don’t like hospitals?” Boomer asked.
Jack shook his head, “Not much, no…”
He jumped when he heard a certain pink haired maniac’s voice from the vent above him. “Well its about time you woke up!” Alice.
“The hell…”
Alice and Pidge were in the room next door. Alice paced, tossing her handcuffs from hand to hand, yet left Pidge still handcuffed to her bed. “Cops and firemen got there just as we were waking up.”
“Alright but where are we?” Jack asked.
“County hospital. Local cops, they responded to the explosion.”
“Ah..”
Boomer groaned when he heard Pidge start complaining to Alice about letting her go, yet Alice ignored.  But Jack continued with his inquiry.
“Have we been processed?”
Boomer waved his ink covered finger tips at Jack. “They faxed our prints to the State Police.”
Pidge furrowed her brow in worry, “If the staties run us, guys, we’re screwed!”
Alice nodded in agreement, “How long do we got?”
Pidge thought for a moment before answering, “Thirty, thirty-five minutes depending on the software.”
Boomer snorted, “They printed us twenty minutes ago. So unless we get out of here in the next ten minutes we all go to jail.”
Jack nodded, also thinking as everyone else, “Yeah, all right. I uh…”
“Jack, I can take these cops outside,” Boomer offered.
“Hey! Don’t you dare. You kill anyone you screw up my getaway!” Alice retorted back.
Pidge jingled her cuffs again, “Hold up. I’m still handcuffed here. I can’t even go to the bathroom. I gotta go.”
Jack rolled his eyes, “Alice, get me a phone. What we’re going to do is, we’re going to get out of here together.”
Boomer raised an eyebrow. “This was a one-time deal, remember?!”
Jack rolled his eyes again, “Look guys, here’s your problem. You all know what you can do, I know what all you can do, so that gives me the edge, gives me the plan.”
Alice shook her head again, “No, Jack, I don’t trust these guys…”
“Do you trust me?”
“Of course. You’re an honest man.”
“Then get me a damn phone already!”
“This is gonna suck,” she said as she stuck her fingers down her throat and bends over.
Pidge looked revolted, “Oh hell no!”
A few minutes later, Alice was lying handcuffed in her hospital bed, a doctor bending over her checking her temperature. “Nausea could mean a concussion. If you feel any more effects or blurred vision, tell the policeman right away,” the doctor told her.
Alice nodded compliantly. The doctor and nurse left the room before the officer checks her handcuffs then leaves. Alice and Pidge held up the phones they stole. After a quick glance, they switch phones. Alice held up the keys she stole and tosses them to Pidge before standing up and talking to the vent into the next room, “Jaaaack.” She slid the phone through the vent, which Jack catches.
“Yeah, I got it. So the trick is to give them what they want. They’re expecting a phone call, right?” Jack looked at Boomer and tossed the phone to him.
Momentarily later, a nurse approached the officer guarding their hospital room with news of a phone call for him, hence he leaves.
Meanwhile, Pidge used the camera on the phone to take her picture, “Alright…” And she continued pressing buttons on the phone.
Outside the door, the officer answers the phone to hear Boomer disguising his voice, “This is Detective Lieutenant Carden with the Illinois State Police. We got those prints that you sent us. The problem I have is that they’re sending up red flags all over the place and I’ve got somebody on the phone for you from the FBI down there in Washington. Can you hold son?”
The officer nodded, “Yessir.”
Pidge kept tapping and typing on the phone, “Cmon, cmon, cmon- there it goes!”
In the other room, Boomer tossed the phone to Jack who immediately starts speaking in a very convincing American accent, “Yeah, Deputy Burns, this is Deputy-Director McCumber, FBI. Yes, is our woman all right?”
The real officer sounded confused, “Im sorry, sir, I don’t understand…”
“Deputy, listen to me the woman that you have inside there is ours actually. She’s been in deep cover for three years.”
“…Seriously?”
“That’s correct. In fact you should be receiving a fax any moment now confirming what I’m telling you.” This was Pidge’s que to send the Fax as Alice let down Pidge’s hair to show that she was indeed female. Boomer, however was quite in shock at the fact that the small computer nerd wasn’t a teenage boy living in his mother’s basement.
Another officer rushed down the hallway holding a fax he hands to Burns marked “Classified” with Pidge’s picture.
Jack continued, “Most of what I’ve told you is classified. I need to know I can trust you. Can I?”
“Yessir.”
While all of this is transpiring, Jack and Alice are already in a police cruiser outside, and Pidge was leading Boomer to the car, still handcuffed. As Pidge guided Boomer into the backseat, she hits Boomer’s head on the top of the door frame, to which he turns and growls at her. She just snorts. “Walk it off, Mr. Karate.”
Once they got in the car, Pidge was already grinning at the cops. “Men, it fills my heart with tears of joy, what you guys do. It does.” And with that, they drove away
