Marco opened his front door and grinned when Rome ran at him. He crouched down to pet the dog and rub his back, proceeding to stand up and bring his and Mattia's luggage into the house. The three proceeded to go inside and follow the noise that led them to the living room. They found Adelina sat with her lawyer, Ana, and her assistant.
Adelina's face lit up when she saw Mattia run at her, "Principessa!" She exclaimed excitedly, taking the little girl in her arms. Mattia grinned and sat on her mom's lap, tightly holding onto the doll in her hand.
"Did you have fun with daddy?" Her mother asked, pushing her hair out of her face. Mattia looked up and nodded, flashing a smile at Marco before turning back to Adelina. "Yeah. We went to so many places with tio Igor and abuelo, it was a lot of fun. I wanted you to come with us, mommy."
"Maybe next time, baby," Adelina said. She kissed Mattia and put her down. "Now, go have dinner with Maria while I talk to my friend, okay?"
Mattia walked out of the room with Rome following her, leaving Adelina alone with the girls and Marco.
"That sounds good, just update me about everything that happens," Adelina continued talking to her assistant, "And stay updated with everyone back in Milan. Also, make sure you keep tracking my schedule. Share it with Miguel and Federico so they can always know where I am. Oh, don't forget to share it with Marco too. Did you talk to mom?"
"Yes, signora. She's meeting you tomorrow for dinner, along with Mr. Medici. Claudia has declined because she has dinner plans, as she told me. Also, Georgina Rodriguez is coming to Spain over the weekend to meet you along with Izabel Kovacic."
"The police officer is coming by again tomorrow morning to have a quick talk with you and to update you about everything. You also have a meeting with Mr. Pérez tomorrow during the afternoon. You also have a doctor's appointment tomorrow after you meet with the officers."
"Thank you, Cecilia, that'll be all," Adelina sighed tiredly and nodded, dismissing her. The girl strolled out of the house and probably went outside to find the bodyguard. Ana turned to Adelina with a smile, "So, are we still on for tonight?" She asked with a smile.
"Absolutely," Adelina nodded. "At eight, no? I'll see you then."
"Right. See you tonight, Marco," Ana mumbled as she passed by him and left. Marco nodded, not really knowing what he was agreeing to. He pushed himself off the wall and pushed his hands into his pockets, walking closer towards Adelina.
"Hi," he said, clearing his throat. Adelina crossed her arms over her chest and gave him a soft smile, reciprocating the greeting. "Hey. How was California?"
She took a seat on the sofa and he sat beside on the same sofa, but with a distance between them. She lifted her feet up and relaxed.
"Good, good. What did you do while I was away? Were you bored?" He asked, shifting a little bit closer. She shook her head, "Um, no, no. It was interesting, actually. I watched a lot of movies and spent a lot of time with Claudia. By the way, um, that Christmas gift you got me..."
Marco blushed. "I know, I know. It was really stupid."
"No, actually, I loved it," she smiled, "I can't believe you still remember our first date."
"Of course I do, I'd never forget that," Marco said, still blushing. "So, um, you seriously liked the gift?"
"Yes. It must've been impossible for you to find, no?" She asked. Marco shrugged, "Well, considering I had it for three years now, not really. I was going to give it to you sometime before we... got divorced. I was saving it all this time, I thought it was a good idea to give it to you for Christmas."
