Chapter 1

Ross POV

"Truth or dare?" I asked.

"Dare," Rocky said.

"I dare you to go to the mall and go do your magic handcuff trick. But you have to ask a random girl to let you do it."

Rocky just ordered this new magic kit, and he's actually pretty good. His best trick is where he handcuffs someone's hands together, and then magically unlocks them.

"Alright, fine. Let's go."

"Riker! Do you want to come to the mall with us?" I called.

"Sure."

Rocky left to go get his shoes on. So I decided to do something I thought would be funny. I took the handcuff key out of Rocky's magic set. Now he won't be able to finish his trick. This is about to be hilarious.

"Riker, you're driving!" Rocky shouted.

Later...

Riker POV

"Who looks good?" Rocky asked.

"That girl. Black leggings. Gray tank top," Ross said, pointing.

Rocky walked over to the girl. I couldn't hear what he was saying, but she looked annoyed with him. However, she followed him back over to us.

"How about we make this more exciting? Riker, give me your hand," Rocky said, reaching for me.

I rolled my eyes, but gave him my hand. Literally I've been watching him do magic tricks nonstop for the past 4 days.

Rocky handcuffed me to the girl, and then put a cloth over our hands.

"I'm Rocky, by the way. And these are my brothers, Riker and Ross. What's your name?"

"Tate."

She seemed like she didn't really want to be here. But she was putting up with this anyways.

"Alright, now watch. When I pull this off, you guys will be free."

Rocky put his hands under the cloth with ours. And then he got this weird look on his face.

"Um... Hold on..."

He shoved his hands in his pockets.

"Rocky, what's going on?" I asked.

"Uh... I don't have the key."

"What!?"

"I swear I had it earlier! I just don't know where it is now."

"So I'm stuck to him!?" Tate asked.

Rocky nodded. Tate sighed. I can't believe this. Rocky locked me to a girl.

Rocky pulled the cloth off, and started playing with the handcuffs. I was hoping he'd get them off somehow, but he couldn't.

"Um... I think you guys are stuck," he said, not making eye contact with either of us.

"Ok. Well I need to use the bathroom, and that's probably not going to be possible here. So let's go home so I can pee, and you can find the key and unlock us, ok?" I asked.

Rocky nodded.

We all walked out to the parking lot. I glanced at Tate, and she looked mad.

Tate and I slipped into the backseat, and Rocky decided to drive since I obviously couldn't.

We got back to our place after a little while. The car ride was pretty much silent. Tate and I were both annoyed. Rocky was embarrassed. And Ross pretty much thought this was the most hilarious thing ever.

"You'd better find that key. I have plans tonight," Tate said, as we walked inside.

"It's probably just upstairs in my bedroom," Rocky said.

I brought Tate into the living room. We sat down on the couch, waiting for Rocky to find the key.

"What time are your plans?" I asked.

"7:00."

I looked at my phone. It's about 3:30 now.

A few minutes went by, and then Rocky came downstairs again.

"Did you find it?" I asked.

"Um... No."

"What!? Rocky, why didn't you make sure you had the key first!?" I asked.

"I thought I did! I don't know where the key could be! I literally had it last night because I did the trick with Rydel and Ellington!"

I sighed, annoyed.

"Maybe I dropped it at the mall... I'll go back and look for it."

Rocky left.

"Um... So I need to use the bathroom," I said, feeling a bit awkward.

"Ok. What do you want to do?"

"Um... Let's figure this out..."

We stood up and walked to the bathroom. And we somehow managed to get Tate outside the bathroom and me inside with the door cracked open for our handcuffs.

I did my business, and then we went back to the living room to wait for Rocky.

"So um... Tell me a little bit about yourself," I said, trying to make conversation.

"I don't like being handcuffed to people."

My cheeks flushed red. She's not happy at all. And I felt awkward because it was kind of like she hated me now.

"Ok... Um... I'm sorry. I don't really like being handcuffed to people either. Sometimes my brother Rocky does stupid things."

"Handcuffing people together without a key? Yeah, I'd say that's pretty stupid."

I think I'm going to be quiet now...

I felt bad for Tate because she has plans and she obviously doesn't want to be here. But I think I'd feel even more bad if she was being sweet and nice. Right now, she's kind of just having attitude with me. And it's kind of annoying. I'm stuck in the same situation she is. And I'm not really complaining. I mean, I'm annoyed with Rocky, but I'm not going to be rude to Tate about being stuck with her.

I went on my phone while I waited for Rocky to come back. Tate went on her phone too.

We sat in silence until Rocky got back again.

"Please tell me you found the key," I said, when he walked into the room.

"No."

"Rocky, you seriously need to find the key. Where was the last place you had it yesterday?"

"In my bedroom. I keep all my magic stuff in a box, and the key wasn't in there. I looked."

I sighed.

"I'll keep looking, ok?"

Tate glared at him.

"We'll figure something out, ok?" I asked her.

She turned to glare at me instead, and Rocky took that as his cue to run out.

"Look. I'm not happy either. But let's make the best of it, ok? It won't be as bad if we try to be positive," I said, giving her a half smile.

"No."
