"What happens in the movies doesn't happen in real life. It's all so typical" - Sonamoo (I knew it)

Younghyun stood up and bowed to the woman who was smiling warmly at him. "Thank you so much for coming in. You are a promising young man and I will call you if we are interested."
Younghyun felt like he just won the lottery. He had been looking for a job because he didn't want his parents to have to worry about him constantly. They already had so much on their shoulders and he wanted to lighten the load.
"Thank you ma'am. Have a nice night."
"You as well."
Younghyun was about to leave the small restaurant when he saw a familiar figure sitting in a booth by herself. She was facing towards him, but she was staring down at her plate with a frown engraved on her face.
"Idiot.."
Younghyun approached Lisa and sat down across from her, not even getting a reaction from her. "Aren't you going to tell me what happened?" Younghyun slid her plate to the middle and picked up an unused fork to take a bite of the noodles. Younghyun was annoyed that she wasn't budging and was close to yelling at her until after 10 minutes she finally spoke up.
"You all were right. I was setting myself up for heartbreak." Lisa blinked away the tears. "Dowoon told me that he would probably never like me the way I like him." Lisa looked up at Younghyun with a single tear falling down her cheek. All her life she knew he would reject her eventually, but him saying the words he said hurt her.
"Lisa you have to understand some people will simply not like you." Younghyun had a mouth full of noodles at this point.
"Do you think there's something that causes that?" Lisa asked. "Even beautiful people who are evil seemed to be well liked by everyone. Do you think if I were skinnier, skin lighter, hair straighter and a slender face that it would be the same for me?"
Younghyun's eyes scanned over her as she spoke he noticed that her eyes held a need for validation. Younghyun wasn't all heartless and he knew that sometimes people just needed to be told the truth. He wish someone was there for him because for so long he compared himself to others when Hana would look else where. He knew what she was feeling, why aren't i good enough?
"You can't be so worried about looks." Younghyun wanted her to realize that being attractive isn't the best thing in the world. While being attractive was beneficial it never could make a person completely happy. However, if you never experienced it would be harder to understand. "In the end your looks can only take you so far. If Dowoon doesn't find you attractive you have to move on."
Lisa picked up her glass of water and sipped some of it digesting what Younghyun said. If looks weren't so important.... Lisa looked out the window and noticed all the ads that promoted clear skin, beautiful bodies, and overall a mode like physique. Why...why does our society run on good looks?
"Don't ever let a guy see you upset. It makes you look helpless." Younghyun finished up the noodles and pushed it back over to her. "And stupid."
Why is he trying to help me? Lisa smiled a little and despite his choice of words they comforted her in a sense. Knowing that someone out there wouldn't sugar coat the truth. Even if it hurts.
"You're right." Lisa used a napkin to clean off her wet cheeks. "Next time I'll beat them up!"
"Hmm that's going a bit too far. Just try and hold it in until you're alone or with me." Younghyun shot her a smile and stood up. "So come on let's get going. It's late."
