Oh man...Was I in a world of pain. I'm Rester. Rester-2. I'm an. Exo Hunter. Guardian of The Last City. Y'know, before the Cabal blew it up. I felt the pain in my chest and face, laying there I could only blink my eyes and watch the coolant slowly drip onto the forest floor. I heard the screams of the survivors being dragged off. Why drag them off like that? Fallen maybe pirates, but they're savages. "Guardian...? Rester? Rester are you awake?" I slowly raised my head and saw my Ghost. She floated there, that lil ball that spun and watched with her one eye, now keep in mind. This isn't a Ghost like a dead person, that'd be really creepy. Nono, a Guardians Ghost is Made from the Traveler, it's a small...ball. It can open and close itself, it has one eye, and can heal and even bring back dead guardians. Well, right now she can only heal me, without the light, there is no coming back. "Rester, it's me! Pip!" I chuckled softly and groaned and felt a power course through me, the pain slowly faded and I was able to stand up. "Oh man." I said stretching my joints. "Fuck that hurt." I shook my head. I felt a ping on my helmet, an aggressive tap, blinking I felt one more and saw it was Pip banging against my helmet. "Stop swearing!" She chided. "Yes, mom." I responded, my voice dripping with sarcasm. Standing up I looked around for my gun and frowned. "Damn!" I kicked a dead Vandal and huffed. It's four eyes starting into the sky as it lied there dead. Huffing, I scanned the area with my soft glowing blue eyes. "Hey, what about the people?!" Chirped Pip, She was right! The civilians! I looked west and Squinted my eyes, kneeling down I examined the dirt, drag marks, a set of six. "Man. Right, Okay, they're heading west, six drag marks." I started walking, knowing full well I would be in for another world of hurt if my plan failed on me. I could even die doing it. My plan was simple. Get a gun. Kill any  Fallen I saw, and save everyone. A good plan, the best plan! I looked around to the trees and huffed angrily. "This is a load of fuckery." A ping against my helmet. "I mean this shit is just so fucked." Two more pings, sounding like a spoon hitting fabric, which intern impacted upon metal. I looked and barely saw Pip smacking herself into the helmet I was wearing. She paused and looked right into the visor of my helmet, partially covered by my hood, I stared back and lifted a hand and flicked her away, chuckling. "Hey!" She cried out. "Mean!" She chided. I kept walking and stopped dead in my tracks. The screams started again and I raced to them and dove into some bushes, pulling my knife I saw not the civilians I had saved originally, no instead I saw a woman who was struggling to fend off a lone Dreg with a knife. What it was doing with her didn't matter, I raced forward, my steps pounding against the forest floor accompanied with leaves and twigs. The Dreg turned around and screeched throwing the woman to the ground moving to block my own blade with his. A clash and sparks flying we stared at each-other. Waiting for the other to make a move. The Dreg Slowly backed away and moved the blade to compensate the exposed areas, I did the same and we slowly circled eachother. Glaring from behind my helmet I got near the girl, not bothering to examine her just yet, I hoisted her up with one arm, over my shoulder, she kicked and squirmed but my grip was enough to keep her in my grasp. The Dreg hissed and I mocked it with my own. My feet stepping slowly crossed the forest floor as I kept moving back. "Listen here, buddy!" I said, eyes burning into the Dreg, hoping the glare alone would scare it off. "I don't have time for you! And you don't have time for me!" the Dreg paused for a moment. "You've got the Cabal to worry about, I'm sure." The Dreg hissed again and glanced downward, before sprinting off. "...Oh thank the light!" I said kicking my feet together, sprinting the opposite way, the woman's protests only now filtering into my ears. "Put me down! Now!" I felt light punches at my back and watched her legs squirm. She wore from what I could tell, blue worn out jeans, rugged boots, and what looked like a leather jacket. I huffed and shook my head, and once I had walked a considerable distance, listening to the forest, I stopped dead in my tracks at a spot and looked around from behind my helmet. I set her down. "We make camp. Here--Nono." I took a step or two to the left, watching her confused eyes follow me. "...here." I drew my knife and slashed a small branch off a tree slamming it exactly in front of me. "Okay--look. I don't know who you are, thank you for saving me but I should really keep moving." the woman said, starting to leave, I gently grabbed her hand and spun her back. "Ap-ap-ap! Now hang on!" I smiled under the helmet. "Let's think this through. You leave, Okay, cool. Then what? You keep wandering until those...things. Find you. " I said, clapping my black gloved hands together. "Now look, know how to build a shelter?" her soft brown eyes squinted at me, and she sighed. "Yes." she said sound half angry. I booped her on the nose. "Good! Now excuse me, 'm gonna go grab stuff for a fire! Be back soon! Oh--" I drew my knife quickly and she flinched, I handed it over to her by the handle. "Seeya!" I dashed off, watching as the sun was now slowly beginning to set. Purples and oranges slowly taking the sky. I blinked and looked off, hearing very distant sounds of shock pistols and...wire-rifles? Standing straight I squinted off into the direction seeing nothing. I decided to keep going, and grabbed some leaves and twigs, and branches, walking back I saw my new friend already had a shelter going. "Heey! Nice job, kid." I assembled the leaves and sticks in a small bundle on the forest floor, pulling out a match. "I'm not a kid, I'm eighteen." she growled angrily huffed from inside the shelter made of leaves and sticks. "Yeah sure." I stuck the match on my armor watching it light up and I placed it against a leaf watching the fire soon begin as orange sparks and flames danced around generating enough warmth for the girl, honestly I didn't know if Exo's needed warmth or not. It felt nice, but it's not like we just freeze. I crawled into the shelter and smiled leaning back. "You can really build." she growled at me. "Thank you..." I sat up. "Now what's your problem? Hm?" I booped her on the nose and she bit down on the finger. "Ah! Hey!" my voice laced with venom. She let go and sighed. "I didn't need you help. I had it all under control. Pip materialized and got in her face. "Don't be so rude! You did not have it under control. Rester saved you, get over it." the woman flicked her away. Pip squeaked and I sighed. Closing my eyes. "I'm gonna nap for a bit." I closed my eyes, and a dream instantly flashed in front of me. Bright greens and a cavern. I was in a cavern filled with trees, sunlight peaking in from a hole in ceiling. It was beautiful... I looked to my left and saw Pip next to me, she floated about and made humming sounds. "Why do you keep dreaming of this place, Rester?" she asked curiously. I slowly looked around the flora fauna, smiling. "You know, Pip. I'm afraid I don't know..." It was true, year after year, night after night I'd dream of this place. Suddenly, the entire cavern shook and heaved. I stumbled and fell, the ground under me giving way as I fell down a dark pit. "Nono!" I grabbed at whatever I could and couldn't move suddenly. I awoke and saw the girl shaking me. "Wakeup! Wakeup!" I sat up and groaned. "Fuck." Pip pinged against my helmet and I growled. "What's wrong?" I said groggily. She pointed. I huffed and swiped my knife from her and walked where she was pointing. I heard steps, slow but agile steps. I heard a loud thud ahead of me, seeing the brush move slightly. In the pitch black dark I slowly moved forward, Pip generated a light for me and I could only imagine what kind of creature could be there. Fallen? A Psion of the Cabal? Moving the brush aside I saw not Cabal, not Fallen. Human. I knew this human! I stepped over quickly. "He's alive!" said Pip. I was so happy. Poor kid looked ready pass out. "Hey kid! Looks like the whole camera thing didn't work out..." I paused and looked around. "Where's my gun..." I sighed. "Oh boy." I lifted the kid up and headed back to camp. Now I've got two ducklings to watch over.
