The two figures illuminated by the fires shadow looked to each other. Just as Rester was about to pull the trigger, a large explosion resounded, knocking both parties on their respective asses. Asilvar instantly moved over to me and held me close as she aimed to the night sky with a pointed blade. I watched in fright as I knew, any second that blade could find its way into my heart. Rester groaned and slowly stood and looked skyward, spotting a Cabal ship that had decided we were good targets, it went to fire again, but a well-placed gunshot to the firing barrel caused a secondary explosion. The ship's spotlight moved away from us all, as it made a swift escape to the distance. Rester looked at me, and Asilvar looked at him. They stared intently at each other. My "mate" stood up slowly and moved forward. Rester held firm and held his hand out to her for a handshake. Asilvar stopped dead and looked at him like he was joking. "Okay. Look. We can kill each other, or we can kill the Cabal that wants us all dead. Your choice." Silence followed as Asilvar stared at him, then shook his hand roughly, chattering dangerously at him, getting in his face. Rester gave her an affectionate pat on the cheek. "HEY! Kid! You alright?" I nodded my head and stood up. The Awoken got out of her tent and sighed. "Well, it's been fun but I'm leaving." Rester looked over, taking off his helmet and glaring. "What?! After -that?-" he pointed to the sky. "..yeah." came her response as she walked off. "Fine then! Go get yourself killed--but don't come looking for me!" She simply flipped the bird and continued her walk. I blinked and pointed at her. "What's her deal?" "No clue kid...noooo clue." he shook his head...then promptly rushed after her. "Hey wait--" He looked over. "Just watch over the camp!" I sighed and sat down by the fire, examining the spot where the Cabal decorated the forest floor with a shot of plasma, or whatever they used. Asilvar watched me, and slowly moved over sitting down next to me. I eyed her and gulped nervously. Her head tilted and she set her blades down, then accosted me, lifting me up, all I could do was let out a yelp as she set me on her lap and hugged me. I let out a sigh and hugged her arms.
We stayed like that for awhile, just sitting there. She set me down gently and stood up looking around. I also stood and looked at her quizzically. "Uh...you alright there, Az?" I decided to give her a nickname to help alleviate tension. She paused and looked at me. "...what?" I shrugged and she shook her head with a facepalm. She walked over and handed me one of her knives, I looked at her, and gently took it. "Right uh...I'll...use it..sparingly." A nod from my 'mate'. She moved in slowly and circled me. I gulped and smiled nervously. She instantly swung at me with one of her blades. I yelped and scrambled back on my butt. A facepalm followed suit on my attacker's behalf. She marched over and yanked me up into a standing position. A grumble as she adjusted my standing position, to more of a fighting stance. She stood across from me and got into a defensive position. It then dawned on me like the fiery sun. "You want me to strike you?" Az nodded, and I could feel her smile under that helmet. I furrowed my brows and took a breath. Then rushed forward at her, and started slicing. She blocked every slash and stab I could ever throw at her, and she kicked me down and stepped on my chest. I let out a breath, groaning from the kick, and the pressure on my chest. I looked at her, watching her shake her head. She got off and lifted me up. Giving me a gentle pat on the head and ruffling my hair. I grumbled and shook the dirt off my clothes. "Didn't have to be so rough, Az." I grumbled and stepped away from her, more frightened of her combat prowess. She yanked me back into a hug and held me close. I yelped and gulped. Hugging her back.
We stayed like that for awhile, just watching the camp and doing my best to socialize with her. Eventually, she sat down and pulled out some food. Cooked meat? I raised a brow and looked at her, she held it out to me raising her head. I took it gently and started chowing down. It wasn't good food. but after not having eaten for a while. I'd take it. The thought was crazy, a Fallen Captain. Who had slain countless guardians, almost killed me. was having lunch with me. I guess the saying is true. The enemy of my enemy...Is my friend.
