Logan had always hated being proven wrong, especially by Patton of all people. He glared at his computer monitor, he was attempting to schedule Thomas's schedule for the following week but he couldn't get the incident from this morning out of his head. One word, he got one stupid word wrong and suddenly he got labeled for life and Patton became "The smart one". Logan couldn't believe it, sure Patton was cute and sweet and funny, but smart wasn't his defining feature, Logan was the only smart one... Right? He threw back his head against the comfy chair he was sitting on and moaned, what is this feeling, jealousy? And... Something else.
He didn't have time to worry about such things at the time, it was already 8:00 pm and keeping a well timed schedule is important, he fell fast asleep, but not peacefully, he seemed to contract every nightmare he ever had... He woke up in a cold sweat, he popped every joint in his body and came down to the breakfast table. At the table sat Virgil in his Jack Skellington onesie... Wait Virgil was already up? Logan looked at the wall clock, 12:23, HE OVERSLEPT, THIS HADN'T HAPPENED IN YEARS! He was severely confused, what was wrong with him? Patton popped his head into the kitchen and noticed a very stressed looking Logan standing next to the grape juice. "Hey kiddo.. is everything ok?", "Yeah, I'm fine.", Logan said tilting his head forward so Patton couldn't see the dark circles forming beneath his eyes. "Do we have any jam?", Logan asked Patton as he turned his body towards the fridge. "Afraid not, kiddo.", Logan groaned loudly and frustratedly announced he was going back to his room. And didn't return until the afternoon of the next day.
Virgil, Roman and Patton were playing Jenga in the kitchen when what seemed to be Virgil in Logan's outfit came in, his hair was a wreck, his glasses were knocked half off his face and dark circles were completely surrounding his outer eyes. "I'm going to pretend not to be offended that you stole my look." Virgil said to the disheveled Logan in front of him, but Logan merely shrugged and ran his fingers through his hair before turning to the fridge, grabbing the full gallon of juice and chugging the entirety of the bottle in front of his shocked friends. He exited the kitchen without saying a word, the rest of the sides were left speechless until Roman spoke up. "Ok, is it just me or is Logan not acting very Logan-y today? He always tells me not to drink more than two cups of sugary drinks in a day but here he is acting like an actual animal.", "I don't know, but you could say that his current happiness level is.. infinitesimal", Virgil smirked. Patton smiled at the dad joke his adopted son had made, but couldn't help but feel bad for Logan, "Um, I'm going to check on Logan for a second.", He hated seeing Logan like that, everything that he loved about Logan was being hidden away. He loved the way that Logan would smirk at his dad jokes, he loved the way his brow slightly furrowed when he was thinking... He. Loved. Logan.
He gingerly opened the door to Logan's room, his usually tidey room was in shambles, his desk that was so perfect and neat on a normal day was now covered with crumbs of crackers and crumpled paper, Logan's beautiful bed sheets were tossed accross the floor and there in the middle of the chaos was Logan looking just as shambolic. "Hey Logan...", Patton smiled tentatively, "Go away" said the blanket lump, sitting on the center of the floor. "I brought you something..." Patton reached behind his back and brought out a large jar of Crofter's strawberry jelly. "Proceed..." Said Logan reaching for the jelly jar and spoon and jerking it away from Patton's grip. Patton slowly lowered himself down next to Logan. "So, what is it that's been grinding your gears?", Logan looked up from his Crofter's Jelly with the spoon still in his mouth. "I don't know, you figure it out; you're the smart one.", Logan answered then returned yet another sugary spoonful to his mouth. "Is that what's been bothering you? You think that I'm smarter than you?", Patton looked at Logan, who was busily cleaning out the jar. "Would you care to elaborate on why you think I'm the smart one?" Patton said, Logan pulled the spoon out of his mouth, "Well, partly... I guess.", "When was I smarter than you? Give me an example?", "Well... While everyone makes fun of me for making mistakes... They give you second chances." Logan said tears as stung the corners of his eyes.
Patton looked at him almost angrily, "Don't underestimate yourself. I am Thomas's emotions, not 'the smart one'", Patton said as he pulled Logan closer. "You are a functioning member of this team, and if you're here in this puddle of self-pity Thomas won't be able to function, have you seen the man lately? He needs you more than anything right now.", Patton still looked at Logan with intensity, "I need you." Logan had never seen Patton get legitimately angered before but he was somewhere near that, he nearly cried more but before he could, Patton pulled him completely into a full-on kiss. Causing his face to go completely red, his glasses knocked against Patton's, but he didn't mind. He just held on to him, gripping the back of his shirt, letting tears stream down his cheeks and down Patton's cat hoodie. After an intense few minutes Logan released and wiped his face with his forearm. "Now, are you ready to go up?", Patton asked him with a half smile. "Yeah." Logan answered. "But you might want to freshen up a bit, because, you smell like Crofter's and death." , Patton smirked.
