Violet

Whatcha reading?

I flipped to the next page, readjusting my pillow. The heater cranked on again, blowing warm air my way from across the room. I had three covers on me and an old, moth eaten sweatshirt from a college neither of my parents ever attended. My parents just acquired clothes it seemed.

New Moon, if you must know. I noticed what Will was doing. He was sitting at a table, pretending to look through a magazine. The air smelled like...chemicals. Hair dye maybe? I panned out a bit, noticing the industrialized looking steel surrounding his immediate area, and bottles aligned on the glass shelves behind him. A spa, I think he was at. Or at least a hair salon.

Isn't that the sequel to Twilight? I was surprised he knew that. He was amused.

You'd have to be living under a rock at this point to not know something is related to Twilight. Team Edward and Team Jacob? Come on, now. It's a classic, romantic battle at this point. I grunted, not really wanting to get into a discussion about Twilight.

What part are you at right now?

Bella just flew to Italy to meet with the Volturi.

He didn't have a clue what that meant, but he agreed nonetheless.

Will

Renee walked in just as Blake was getting his hair cut finally. I watched as she flicked her hair back from her leather maxi coat, gold bangles jingling on her arm as she did so. She had on black leather boots that stopped just above the knee and a red sweater dress on underneath. When she walked by all I could smell was jasmine. She took her coat off and placed it on the coat rack next to the desk. When she turned around our eyes caught and she smiled.

"Will Gallagher, it's good to see you again." She said.

"Yeah, same." I said, leaning forward.

"How was tour?" She asked.

"Good, it was good." I said. "How's Jimmy?" Jimmy was her boyfriend, a rap artist I had much respect for.

"He's been okay. I'll tell him you asked." She said, turning to take a seat behind the desk next to Kate.

"I really need to get a new gym membership before the year is out." Renee was saying. "I haven't went in forever-and that's really my fault that I let it collapse."

"I could get you in touch with my personal trainer. She's pretty good." Kate said, as she got up with a purple clipboard, clicking her nails across the plastic surface.

"I don't know if I could work with a personal trainer. I prefer to work out at the gym by myself." Renee said, as Kate walked away behind a screen.

"Have you ever went to the Anytime Fitness a couple of blocks away?" I asked, pointing over my shoulder. "It's a 24-hour gym, not too expensive, and really not too packed. I go there all the time at night."

"I didn't know there was a gym around here." Renee said, and pointed to the left. "Is it down that way?"

"Yeah, it's next to the bookstore downtown." I answered.

"Okay, I might try a trial membership sometime." She said. "Thanks, Will."

"No problem." I answered. I wanted to say more to her, but Kate reemerged then, carrying papers with her. I needed to say or do something, so I decided to poke in on Violet to see what she was up to. She was laying in her bed, covered up to her chin, reading a book.

New Moon, if you must know. Always acting like I was intruding on something important.
