(Y/n)'s Pov
I walked into the class and did the same "I'm new here where's my seat" spiel. I was supposed to share a book with some popular girl until I get my own. Her name was Chloe, I think. I had reading, then social studies, and before I knew it, it was time for lunch. I got my lunch from my locker and made my way to the cafeteria. I immediately regreted it. I couldn't find anyone I knew that I would want to talk to and all of the tables were full. I slowly walked back out and found an empty hallway. I got out my notebook and pencil and wrote more while I ate. This was calming. No one to annoy me, no one to have to impress, just me. I ended up finishing a song when I heard footsteps coming down the hall. I closed my notebook quickly and ate some pretzels. I looked up expecting to see some teachers walk to their room but saw Christine and Jeremy in front of me.
"We were looking all over for you! Why didn't you come sit with us?" Jeremy asked, somewhat fatherly.
"I didn't know where you were sitting! Besides, I don't think Michael would want me sitting by you guys," I defended. Christine and Jeremy looked at each other before laughing.
"Oh, that was great! (Y/n), I can assure you right here and now that he doesn't hate you," Christine chuckled lightly. Jeremy blushed and tried to hide it with his hand. I noticed and raised my eyebrow. If looks could kill I'd be dead.
"Um, if you really want me to sit with you I will," I mused lightly. They cheered and each grabbed a hand. Thankfully, my lunch was around my arm and my notebook was in my pocket. When we got into the cafeteria I was overwhelmed by loud noises. I cringed but kept walking and eventually got used to it. They walked me over to a table and we sat down.
"Michael's probably still in line, but he should be here soon," Jeremy explained. As soon as he said that someone plopped their tray down.
"You're not going to believe this! It's the second day in a row that I got a generous pour from that girl at Sev Elev! Do you think she likes me? And- wait, what's she doing here?" Michael asked defensively. I blushed and was about to get up when Jeremy grabbed my arm.
"(Y/n), it's okay. Just sit back down," he mumbled as he pulled my arm, forcing me to sit.
"We invited (Y/n) to sit with us. Come on, Michael, just let her sit here," Christine persuaded.
"Fine." I opened my lunchbox and pulled out my pretzels and started eating. Jeremy, Michael, and Christine started talking. I finished my food and started writing more. After the song I finished we come into the scene where the main character, Emma, has to get to her friend's house to stop her from killing herself. I was at one of the best parts when my notebook was ripped out of my grasp. My head whipped to the direction of where the notebook went. I saw Michael sitting there reading over a few pages. My first thought was that my life was over and he was going to tell everyone but he instead smiled, handed it back, and told me he would need a finished copy. This was....strange. Who knows, maybe I'm warming up to Michael. Maybe he's warming up to me.
