*Courtney's pov*

I stood in my room in front of my vanity putting on my makeup.

My music was blasting as I swiped on red lipstick across my lips. Usually I don't wear a lot but I couldn't resist the temptation. Tonight I was sneaking out to be with Billy, I don't know what were going but he told me to dress nice.

I slipped on a red dress and heels when there was a knock at my door. I ran as fast as I could and jumped under my blankets, covering up my face. Steve walked in, "Court there's no way in hell you're going to be able to sleep with that music on," he said shutting of the stereo, I grunted.

"I'm going to be out for the rest of the night because Im hanging out-" he fake coughed, "I'm.. Um... Babysitting Dustin... Yeah babysitting," I rolled my eyes. "whatever loser" and with that Steve pivoted and shut my door. I stayed in bed for a few minutes, just to be safe. Once I knew he was gone I took my car and headed over to Billy's.

I'd only been to his house one time but I still remembered exactly where it was. He told me to knock on his window because his dad is home and he doesn't want us to meet. I understand Billy wanting to wait for us to meet but whenever I even bring him up he changes the subject.

Once I reached his neighborhood I parked a few houses down so that his parents wouldn't know I was there- a practice I learned from the legend himself.

The crisp November air gave me goosebumps, I tried to ignore it. I walked up his driveway and roamed to the back of his house. I was about to knock on his window but I was stopped when I saw that he was doing the exact same thing I was doing. He was blasting music, smoking a cigarette and staring at himself in the mirror. He did that tounge thing that I always found so sexy. Before I knew it there was a knock at his door.

"Billy?" a woman's voice yelled. He glanced at the door "yeah im a little busy right now," he said. A demanding voice rung through the walls, "open this door right now!" the man's voice yelled, I assumed it was his father.

Billy walked across the room and opened his door. There stood his father and his stepmother with concerned looks on their faces. "what's wrong?" Billy asked, his father replied "why don't you tell us?"
"Because I don't know," Billy said back with an attitude.

"We can't find Maxine and her windows open," the woman said.

"Where is she?" his father demanded, Billy shook his head, "I don't know. Look I'm sure she just went to the arcade or something." He walked back into his room and over to his closet, but his parents followed. "You were supposed to watch her," Mr. Hargrove said. Billy slipped on his jacket. "I know I was dad, but you guys were 3 hours late... Well I have a date." he turned around to face them.

"oh so that's why you've been staring at yourself in the mirror like some faggot instead of watching your sister?" his dad accused. Billy started to raise his voice, "I have been looking after her all week dad! If she wants to run off that's her problem!"

His dad rammed Billy into the wall behind him, holding him up by his collar. I gasped from outside the window. "What did we talk about?" he talked to him as if he were a peasant. Mr. Hargrove drew his fist back and punched Billy in the jaw. Tears rushed to my eyes and it occurred to me why Billy never wanted us to meet. If he treated Billy like that I can't imagine how he would act towards me.

"What. Did. We. Talk. About." he asked again. Billy was panting, "respect and responsibility," Billy spat. "That's right, now apologize to Susan." there was a tense moment before he spoke, "sorry Susan." she started to protest, "it's okay Neil..." he wouldn't let her speak. "No its not okay! NOTHING about his behavior is okay!! But he's going to make up for it. He is going to call that whore he's seeing tonight and cancel their date so he can look for max." Billy puffed out his chest, "she's not a whore." he said definatley. That earned him another hit.

I couldn't believe that Billy would stand up for me like that, knowing the consequences.

But before I knew it Billy stormed out of his room and I could hear him coming out the front door. I knew he'd want me to already be in the car so that I wouldn't get caught so I ran as fast as I could despite the tears and my 4 inch heels. We arrived in the car at the same time and Billy sped away, quicker than usual.

He didn't say a word to me, which means he knew I was watching the whole time. He didn't want to talk because he knew it would just turn into a scream which would turn into him slamming down on his steering wheel, it's happened before. So we both sat there thinking about what happened. He turned the radio up as loud as it could go. I think Billy wanted to let out his anger in a way where he didn't need to talk, so he made noise instead. He let the rubber of the tires burn on the cement and the stereo system blast in our ears.

He put on of his hands on the center council, palm up. I reached over and held it. We said nothing. Weirdly enough it was in this very moment that I knew I loved Billy Hargrove. He was strong, defiant and rebellious... But in the moments where those traits are the craziest; he counteracts them.

And i think that's what drew me to him in the first place. He was like the eye of the hurricane. Because all around us could be the most dangerous storm to ever hit the world but when I was with him everything was just calm. Touching him sent chills up my spine in the most satisfying way.

Billy makes his own storm, sometimes just so he can find the part of his heart that wants to be kind and loving. He would go through the deadliest storm just to hold my hand and that is what love is.
