Jessica P.O.V

Your mouth is a revolver, firing bullets at the sky

My alarm clock plays Bonfire Heart by James Blunt for the 2nd time this week. Just a normal Tuesday today. I get up and put on a lace T shirt with black shorts and mint converse. I don't really like makeup. People judge you on your flaws no matter what. You have acne? Ugly. You have clear skin? You wear too much makeup. Judge me all you want, it just shows how ignorant you are.

When I arrive at school, my boyfriend, Tyler, is waiting by the trophy case inside like he always does. People give me and him dirty looks as they pass by. We're used to it though. Why the looks? He has elephantitus in his left arm. Elephantitus is a disease where one body part is much bigger than the others. I don't mind though, he is hilarious and romantic and awesome. And beautiful. He gives me a quick kiss on the cheek when I arrive.

"Hello wonderful chicken." He smiles.

"Hello amazing velociraptor." We have different nicknames everyday. We start walking to first period together. I smile.

"Ew, why are you still with that balloon arm, Jessica? Doesn't that thing have a mind of its own?" A high voice rings out from the side of the hallway.

"There are more than just looks to a person, Kaci. Why do you care so much about us anyway?" I say, then walk away, hand in hand with Tyler, with my other hand in my pocket to keep it from flipping the bird at Kaci. She is an ignorant jerk.

Halfway through the biology lecture, there is strange buzzing sound and clicking in the hallway.

"What is that?" I murmured to my friend, Emma.

"I don't know...its seems to be getting closer, doesn't it?" She says.

"Yea..it is.." I trail off. Mr. Rhode walks outside the class room to see what it is. A couple seconds pass in silence and then a gunshot rings out in the hall, then a heavy thump amd a groan shows that Mr. Rhode might be dead. My eyes go wide and my face pales. I lock eyes with Tyler for a moment. He mouths 'I love you' and I smile for a second. Emma tenses in her chair. Her knuckles are white. Her movements remind me of what just happened.

"What the heck just happend?" I whisper. Slow footsteps echo down the hall towards our class room. My first instinct is to grab my phone from by bag and then hide in the cabinet by my seat. Everybody else does the same, finding any hiding places they can. We are trapped in the building with a person with a gun. That can kill anybody.

Ten seconds pass. Silence. Thirty seconds. Silence. My hands are shaking so much, I can't dial 911. Almost a minute. Silence. When I finally get the numbers in, the door to my cabinet flies open and I feel someone grabbing me, then all I see is a flash of blue, and I black out.
