My body froze, goose bumps spread over my entire body like a flood and I could feel my toes curl into the sole of my foot. I stared for a split second, utterly panic-stricken. In front of me stood a tall man, dressed from head to toe in the blackest clothing I had ever seen. He harbored a sharpened pitchfork in his large, masculine hand and glowered down at me monstrously.

Time seemed to stand still as my instincts carried me faster than I had ever gone towards the staircase. This man must've seen that coming, because he followed me and within a split second was on my heels. The entire world fell away as I focused on getting to the stairs. My throat stung from screaming for help, but my voice continued to rip it's way out of my mouth, forming high pitch shrieks of sheer terror. My surroundings we're so blurry that I couldn't see the stairs clearly enough to recognize the first step. I missed the drop and nose-dived down the stairs, taking out a terrified, stair climbing Elton on the way down. At the bottom of the stairs, Sam caught the upper half of my body by my arms, and Elton fell on top of me.

"Are you guys okay?" Colby gasped.

"It doesn't matter, we have to go!"I breathed, my voice lower than ever before.

"Why? What's up there? Are you alright?" Elton asked, as he stood up.

"Nothing is as important as leaving here right now! Please!" I yelled.

"Okay, okay, let's go." he agreed.

I nodded thankfully. Unfortunately, my feet which once carried me without any issues, now ached, and the right one shot surges of pure agony up my leg like lightning bolts. It was a kind of pain I wouldn't forget anytime soon. I gasped and unwillingly plummeted to my knees as my shaking hands gripped my ankle, tears rushing down my face.

"What's wrong?" Elton asked, referring to my ankle.

"I-I don't know!" I replied

"Do you think you can walk?" Corey asked.

Without hesitation, Elton kneeled down to me and pressed around on my ankle, "F*ck! It's broken, it's definitely broken or fractured or something."

"How do you know?" interrupted Sam

"She just fell down a full flight of stairs!" He yelled.

I was about to respond, but to my absolute terror, the man in black was at the top of the stairs, scouring maliciously down at us. Using my blanched face as a hint, each one of the boys glanced up at him, panic falling over each of their faces. Now my roommates knew why I was so scared.

"Here," Colby said quickly and scooped me up in his arms bridal style "C'mon, guys! Go!" He shouted, beginning to run.

Elton picked up his camera, and ran behind us, filming, as the rest of them led the way. The guy stayed on our heels for a while, but we didn't stop running until we reached the car almost a mile and a half away. Corey and Elton hopped into the front seat, panting profusely, Sam jumped in on Corey's side and helped Colby to slid me and my now severely swollen ankle into the middle of the back seat. Quickly, Colby ducked into the car and the doors locked behind him.

We sped off, leaving a trail of flying dust behind us. "Wooh, that was so damn close." Corey shouted.

"Were not out of the woods yet." Elton said blankly.

"Yeah, there could be an axe wielding maniac around here." Laughed Sam. We all kind of chuckled for Sam's benefit.

Ironically, as we approached the exit of the backroads, the car's headlights shone on something blocking the pathway. The closer we came to the gates, the clearer the figures were. They were people. The same black-clothed people with pitchforks that attacked us in the shack.

"F*ck!" Corey yelled, "What the shit, dude!" He said, panicking

"Elton, what do we do?" I said, my eyes stinging, fear evident in my voice. He didn't answer. I don't think he really knew. Sam placed a hand on my leg, trying to calm me down.

My entire body broke out into shakes, the air was thick and heavy. My hands were those of a videogame character, controlled by an outside force. I scrunched the lids of my eyes tightly together, leaned forward and put my head on my knees and tried to take a few breaths. Sam and Colby placed their hand on my back for lack of a better idea to calm me down. I couldn't believe it. I made my way out of the shack, but now I was going to die 10 feet from the exit.

I heard Colby whisper something to Corey, then the car quickly sped up. I opened my eyes to find we were fast approaching the line of people. I watched their faces change from strong and confident, to realizing (just as I did in that moment) that this car was not slowing down for them.

"Elton!" I screamed. The sound was sharp enough to break eardrums. "You're going to kill someone!" He didn't mind me, just kept on driving.

Thankfully, they all moved out of the way except for one, who quickly went down on the side of our car. The back wheel rolled over his leg with a loud crack; a sound I will never forget.

Elton rolled down his window as we passed them, "That's for breaking my little sister's ankle!" he mocked. We all looked at him, in awe.

"Yeah!....Bitch!" Colby added. We all laughed.

Finally we were back in safety. There was streetlights and civilization and the entire mood of the car changed. We wouldn't dare stop the car for a while, but we relived the events of the night over and over, and of course I had to explain my entire experience to the boys. And dear Lord, if I had a penny for every time they asked me how I was doing, if I was okay, or if I was sure I was okay, I'd be a billionaire.

The four of them had a heated discussion on whether or not they should take me to the hospital for my ankle. I voted no, but they said I didn't get an opinion because I'm 'just a wee child'. To that, I rolled my eyes and shut up for the rest of the ride home. In the end, they decided just to grab an ace bandage and a brace from the local drugstore and go home. To this day, the funniest thing i've ever seen is the four guys crowded around me trying to wrap up my ankle. It's also one of the most painful, but that's beside the point.

"Okay, guys. Nobody is allowed to sleep! We leave for our trip in," he checked his phone, "Three hours!" he beamed once we were done with my ankle.

The trip! I completely forgot.
