You know that feeling when you just don't feel like you belong somewhere? When everyone has their own little knit they're in and you're just kind of there on your own? Well that's how I felt for the next month and a half; all the way through the end of April. The boys all had their YouTube, Jacob had soccer, and I was all alone besides the occasional conversation with Brandon.
There was a few times that I had talked to other girls in my classes and began to make friends, but Jacob put an end to that very quickly after he decided that if I had other friends I wouldn't have time for him, so I was always lonely. If I didn't know that he was doing all this because he loved me I would've broken up with him by now, but even Elton loved him so it was hard to think about him not in my life. Plus I enjoyed the attention most of the time, and I think I loved him too. He was a good guy, I truly believed that.

It was the last Friday in April, and I was spending the weekend at Jacob's beach house with his parents. I had packed all of my clothes and toiletries in a big quilt duffle bag and thrown it in the back of Elton's jeep, which he let me borrow for the weekend since I had gotten my California driver's license the week before. The school day was almost over and I sat impatiently in AP physics class as I doodled in my notebook. The bell couldn't have rung soon enough because when it did, the entire class bolted for the door. I made my way excitedly out to the parking lot, and found Jacob standing with a playful grin on his face as he watched me skip towards him.

"Hi babbbby!" I sang, as I stood on my tippy toes to peck him on the lips.

He smiled and intertwined our fingers, "you know what I'm excited for?" He said and rested his forehead on mine, then gently placed another kiss on my lips.

"Mm?" I asked before I broke the kiss.

"Spending the entire weekend with my girl." He cooed. His hands wrapped behind my back and pulled me close to him, as he hugged me.

I giggled and pushed away from him, grabbing his much larger hand in mine, "I'll see you there!" I said in a singsongy voice, then began towards my car.

My car traveled up the desertous pathway which was dotted with shrubs and rocks that hung off the edge of the cliff, threatening to break loose and plummet to the ground each time the wind blew. As I reached the top of the hill and pulled around the corner, a very modern, sizable house came into view. It was a single story, glass and stone house, with a deck on the roof. Parked next to the house was Jacob's silver car and I watched as he stepped out of it, the setting sun created little beams of light that danced on his brown hair with help from the slight breeze that swirled around us.

My lips curved into a grin and I quickly stepped out of the car, and began to walk over to him. "So this is it, huh?" I asked, hands shoved into my pockets.

"Yep." He nodded, "uh, wanna see the view? It's so pretty."

I agreed and he pulled me along to a path that lead to the back yard. The closer we came to the edge of the cliff, the louder the waves crashing against the rocks below us became. The water stretched for miles below us and washed violently over the jagged rocks that sat under the cliff.

The back door opened and a tall, thin framed woman popped her head out. She was kind faced, but looked tired; like she had seen her best days. "Hey kids, Only about twenty minutes until dinner, okay?" Jacob nodded and thanked her.

"That your mom?" I asked, grinning up at him. He simply nodded, then focused his attention to the ocean. I watched in amazement as Jacob plopped down on the edge of the drop off and let his legs dangle the rocks of death. "Where's your dad?" I asked, stupidly.

Jacob paused for a moment, then looked up at me, "Divorced." He patted the ground next to him, asking me to sit with him. I hesitated, then shook my head no. Just the thought of sitting next to the edge sent chills running down my spine.
