'Dear diary, it's day 14, and I don't know who to trust.  I'm not sure if I can even trust my friends or family.  I'm confused. - Xavier'

Xavier's POV

I wrote this journal entry to keep me from going mad.  The Outerside is getting worse and worse by the day.  More people are being executed for being 'borgs... I want to learn how to trust, but with all the madness going on, I can't.  I can't even trust Penny, although I've known her for longer than I can remember.  Her long golden locks with aquamarine tips, her emerald green eyes, and even her scar that travels through her eyebrow.  Penny and I met in kindergarten when we were young and innocent, without a care in the world.  We were both alone on the first day of kindergarten, then she walked over and said, "You're a loner like me.  Let's be loners together!" then she smiled her ravishing smile, instantly getting me hooked on our friendship.  From that day on, as she said, we were loners... together.

Penny's POV

He's always writing in that journal, I thought, If only I could see what he's writing about.  Then Xavier caught my eye, and I looked away.  His smokey gray and deep blue eyes have been making my heart flutter as of late.  His umber brown hair and pale, yet stern, complexion is captivating, and his smile gives me butterflies.  I don't understand!  What's this feeling?  This feeling of longing to be with Xavier forever, for him to be with me, to stay?  That day we met, when we promised to be loners with each other and stay together, I hadn't realized anything of his looks, only his kindness.  I'm not sure how to feel...

3rd person POV

The two unsuspecting love birds sat in silence with no noise of cars or buses behind them.  The Outerside had been abandoned and left for dead, only the ones who know how to survive, will stay.  Xavier soon started a conversation with Penny saying, "Penny, I uh... we should start gathering supplies, shouldn't we?" The young girl replied with a soothing "yes", and they started out.
