It had been almost two years since the event of 1984. And it seemed like people were finally beginning to put what happened behind them.
Even the kids were happier. Eleven was finally in school, but only because of Mike practically writing a hundred page essay and forcing Hopper to read it. Max and Lucas had gotten together, no surprise to anyone. Dustin always had a smile on his face now and he seemed to be the only one who could take decent notes for class. Mike was happy that El finally was out in the real world, and didn't have to hide in that stupid cabin.
Then there was Will.
Will was a different kind of happy. He didn't really show his happiness the way the others did. He showed it by no longer having the dark circles under his eyes. No longer having the look of pure terror when he was left alone. And when he didn't wake up in the middle of the night because of a flashback, he smiled more. When he didn't panic that he was left alone, he laughed more.
Things were getting better. But it seemed that better, only lasted a little bit.

Will woke up gasping for breath in a cold place. A familiar cold. The cold of the Upside-down.Will bolt up into a sitting position, still straining his lungs so he could get small amounts of air into them. Soon, he was able to control his breathing and get it at a normal pace.
He hated coming here, even in his dreams. It always gave him that idea that he was trapped again. He shuddered, he hadn't had a dream like this for a long time, and he hadn't planned on having anymore.
A bone chilling screech ripped him out of his thoughts. He turned his head every which way, trying to figure out where the screech had come from.
Even though he didn't know where the creature making the sounds was, he knew dream or no dream, he still had to move. Sitting he would just make it come to him sooner.
He learned that last time.
He waited until he heard another screech, this one closer than before. He gave a guess where the creature was and headed in the opposite direction.
He knew how these dreams worked. He learned all about them when he first got back from the Upside-down. He needed to keep moving away from the creature, until something in the real world woke him up. Or he would wait for the creature to find him.
Sure the second option was quicker, but for Will, it was always terrifying. It was like he was giving up, letting it get to him. He had been caught before, he wasn't going to let it happen again, even if it would wake him up.
He stumbled along, finding that with each step he took, it became harder to take the next one. It was if gravity had just decided to be a dick right then and there. He took a few more steps before falling forward and landing on his stomach.
He felt the little amount of air he had in his lungs leave. He lay in the ground unable to move, unable to breath. He tried to move his arms so he lift himself into a sitting position. But all he could do was roll himself onto his back.
A loud, dry cough escaped his lips. He coughed until he physically couldn't. He looked up at the dark gray and blue sky with watery eyes.
A loud screech came from his right, causing him to turn his head. His eyes widened as he saw what had been causing the screeching.
A Demodog.
Before he could blink the Demodog had jumped at him and grabbed his leg, sinking it's many teeth into his flesh. And then, more were coming.
He felt teeth everywhere. On his arms, his legs, his chest, but avoid his face. As if to make him watch his body be ripped apart.
Will wants to get up, run, scream, do anything. But he can't. He can't even open his mouth to scream. The pain that is everywhere is making even thinking impossible.
He can feel himself becoming dizzy, unable to keep his eyes open. And soom, his vison starts to darken.
Before long, he is blacking out, and the pain begins to wash away.

Relief washed over him until he felt the pain. The deep, buring pain that was all over him. Will lifted up one of his arm that was going through the pain, and was shocked at what he saw.
Deep, bloody bites and cuts. And they were everywhere
