"Okay, I'll give you a basic overview of why i asked you if you believe in the supernatural. It basically all started when I had just turned 16. By the way, Im almost eighteen. Anyway, at exactly midnight on my 16th birthday I felt the most pain I had ever felt in my life. I could hear my bones cracking, my own screams piercing my ears. It was as though I was dying and no one cared. They were just standing around watching me as I crumpled to the ground.

My legs pointed in unnatural angles, my arms pinned behind me and my spine bowed in an unnatural position. My heart beat was fast, unnaturally fast, and my temperature was rising. My back shoulder stung as though something was pinching it over and over again.

I felt the tears spring to my eyes. I started to hear this voice inside my head. It kept saying the same word: alpha.... alpha.....alpha....

I didnt understand what it meant until the day after. My parents told me I was a werewolf and I'm the next alpha."

I didn't know what to epect but this wasnt it. I guess it was my turn to tell him now.

"Ever since my near death experience. I have been able to hear people's thoughts."

His eyes widened and I swear his breath caught in his throat.

“Well, say something…” I whispered. We’d been sitting here for what felt like hours but in reality were mere minutes. My hands were in my lap, fidgeting with the hem of my skirt while my face looked to the ground.

“What happened?” he asked quietly.

Images flashed before my eyes: the car smashed, the three body bags on the ground, my body on a gurney, my mum and dad’s tear filled eyes but most of all my sister’s smashed body stuck in the back left corner. I couldn’t hold them in, the tears I’d been holding back for so long, they fell down my cheeks. I’d imagined the moment I would finally break so many times but this wasn’t how it had been.

In an instant, Damien was at my side, crushing me against his chest, whispering soothing things and gently rubbing circle on my back. My hands fist his shirt so many times that I thought the creases would never come out.

"Shh... It's alright. You can tell me when you’re ready," he soothed into my hair. Just the sound of his voice relieved my stress. I could feel his heartbeat with mine and just the sound was relaxing my body.
