"Why are you...bouncing?" It's true, Ally is practically jumping in her seat, as she gapes out of the tour bus window.
"Because there's snow outside! Do you not see the snow outside?" Austin chuckles at the way her voice breaks off, in an overly excited squeal. He wouldn't have thought Ally to be the squealing type.
"Ally. It's snow."
"I know! Isn't it amazing? Can we stop the bus?"
"The bus is not gonna stop just so you can stand out in the cold for five minutes. That's ridiculous."
"What about four and a half?" She looks up at him with pleading eyes. It's not like he can say no.
Which would explain why his bright pink Converse high tops are now buried in icy cold. Despite it being negative degrees outside, she looked to be having the time of her life. He smiles when the sound of her beautiful laugh rings out into the opened area.
"You're acting like you've never seen snowfall before," he calls out to her. Her head is tilted up, gazing at the snow descending through the chilly air as it lands in her hair and on her forehead and shoulders. Her eyes sparkle.
"I haven't," she retorts, not breaking her stare at the sky. He gawks at her in shock.
"How have you never seen snow?" he inquires with bewilderment.
"I've lived in Florida my whole life." She says it as if that explains everything.
"I have too. Haven't you ever heard of a vacation?"
"With my cheapskate of a father? Every time we drive a ten mile radius out of Miami, we're on vacation.
"It's just weird that you've never seen snow in person." He reaches over to brush some of it out of her hair, and she grins up at him. "Cold?" he asks. Ally shakes her head.
"Nah." She wraps her arms around his torso. Even in the freezing cold, her hugs are warm. "But I bet you are, you big baby." She smirks.
Austin takes a step back, a look of fake apprehension on his face.
"You wish."
"Austin, I was being serious. You're shivering," she deadpans, a look of part amusement, part concern on her face. Well, it is true that he can't feel his feet anymore. "We can go inside."
"I'm fine," he insists, but Ally knows that even if he's not, he won't tell her. "I don't want to cut into your snow time.
"Hey, we've been out here a lot longer than four and a half minutes. And I don't want you dying or anything. You have a concert tonight. Let's go back inside." She slips her cold hand into his very cold hand, and they make their way towards the bus.
As soon as they enter, a blast of warm air greets them. Ally plops down on the couch and shrugs off her snow-covered coat, not minding that it's starting to drip on the floor.
"So. Was that everything you ever dreamed it would be?
"Absolutely. Possibly everything and more. We're doing this in every city we can, for certain." Austin groans, joining her on the couch. Ally snickers, leaning on him. "Don't worry. I won't actually put you through all of that." She tilts her head upwards and presses her lips to his. She can feel his smile. "Maybe just every other city," she teases, breaking away. He chuckles, hands gently threading through her hair. She feels a slight tug. When she turns to look at him, she notes the snow on his hands, that he's just pulled from her head.
"What, were you gonna save this?" She rolls her eyes.
"What if I was? My first snow, and that was all I had left. Thanks, Austin."
He grins. "We can try for the second snow." And the third and the fourth and the fifth, because it's Ally, and she'll come back with snow in her hair every single time. He already knows this tour is going to be interesting.
And cold.
He's gonna need some better shoes.
