My 'first' day of school

Feeling much better, I came to school with much anticipation.

'Who will I meet? Are my classmates kind and friendly? What subjects will I be taught on?' These thoughts filled my mind.

After singing the National Anthem and reciting the Pledge, the discipline master said "It's time for the temperature taking exercise. Everyone, take out your thermometers."

Without any hesitation, I searched my bag for a thermometer as I was sure I had brought it.

However, to my horror, I could not find it. I was thinking at that moment 'Shit. Had I misplaced it somewhere?'

At that moment, the discipline master continued, "For those of you that did not bring your thermometers, proceed to the canteen to buy one, now."

Following her orders, I went to the canteen to buy one - it was $5... My allowance for the day was gone.

In the class, sitting beside me was actually Ju Hyeong, whom I had established a good friendship with, did not come to school.

My thoughts immediately was about who he was and how he looked like. Also, I got excited as I was sure that he was definitely from Korea - a country that I liked due to the beauty of nature there.

Soon after, we were asked to join tables with the person beside him/her.

The person beside me was Corine.

The people sitting in front of me was Jabez, Raphael, and Jia Jun. Sitting behind me was Richard, Francis, and if I remembered it correctly, the last one was Thea.

After school had ended, I was told by Tay Wee that there was a Chingay rehearsal and we had to stay back until 5pm.

I was shocked, "what the actual fuck? Since when did this happen?"

He replied saying that it was since the first day of school, the day that I had fell sick on.

We then rehearsed. When the instructors were teaching us about the dance steps, Tay Wee was catching along fine. I was completely dumbfounded.

At the end of the day, I went back home with heavy footsteps, thinking about what had happened and the friends that I had made.
