The Girl Who Runs With Wolves

Jade's POV

I followed my two hunting partners into the woods, everything was silent except for the gently rattling leaves on the cool fall breeze and the occasional bird cry. Our footsteps crunched on the leaves rhythmically, guns held to our sides as we made our way to the camp site. One of the men turned, gun suddenly raised. I followed the motion along with my other counterpart. "What is it, Joffery?" Kait spoke in a quiet whisper, just enough for us to hear. "I thought I saw a wolf." He muttered under his breath. "Whatever, it was probably a squirrel." I muttered back, taking the lead. Kait and Joffery followed close behind.

Once we had reached the hunting site, we got all of our ammo loaded and headed up into our tree hides. Carefully looking down on the roadkill we had set up. Kait began to make a howling noise into the darkened sky. We all paused, holding our breath as suddenly a faded howl was heard in the distance. Joffery howled back.

About 30 minutes later, I looked down at my wristwatch. 7:30pm. Joffery hissed something to Kait and I that made us look at him. He pointed down at the ground.

Wolf.

It was a large gray male. The perfect shot. Kait took her aim, being closer to the large animal when all of the sudden two pups tumbled out alone with a female wolf an a......... A human? She was tall and slim, dark messy hair and green eyes. Joffery raised his hand to pause. The male barked, and the bitch and pups ran off into the woods. They could tell something was up. The girl walked over to the large gray wolf and stroked down his back, almost on command he ran after the others.

Kait, Joffery and I looked at each-other, completely confused on what was going on. I looked back down. The tall woman appeared to be very young, almost in her twenties. She had multi - colored furs covering her body. She dropped down onto her hands and crept toward the roadkill. She grabbed the leg and was about to drag it off as Kait fired, the sudden shot startled the girl and she ran off. "Nice shot, Kait!" Joffery called, seeing the wold she had shot. It was the male, he had come back.

I jumped down and started to follow the girl, Joffery and Kait yelled at me, but I continued running, gun at my side. I followed the barely visible girl deeper and deeper into the woods. Suddenly she took a turn and was gone. I set my gun down to breathe. When suddenly, I was surrounded, by none other than the girl and around 10 wolves. I reached to pick up my gun, but the girl yelled and all of the sudden I was tackled, and blacked out.
