It was a Thursday night. We had discussed our plans earlier, and narrowed it down to 2 options; dinner, or a movie. I was always a dinner person so dinner! But Alex wanted movies. So we decided to eat dinner and go to the movies for another date. Alex didn't mind surprisingly, ever since we met each other I figured out that he would always do things for other people.

"Mom, do you really think that this'll work out?" I asked her, pondering the decision I had made. "Sure it will honey! I believe in you." Mom told me. She had faith in me. It was only a date. With the most popular dude in school, probably. I had to get a good pep talk, but we had already pulled into Alex's driveway, and there was no time for any of that. Just think before you do, Emma. "Thanks mom. You're the best." I hugged her and stepped one foot out of the car, and then the other nervously. "Love you!" I yelled whilst walking to his door. "Love you too!"She shouted back. I could see mom driving away and looked through the window when she turned. She was smiling. I smiled as well and knocked on Alex's door. Luckily my mom knew Alex's mom so we could easily get his address, instead of Alex awkwardly telling me. A little creepy (kinda), but...it's for educational purposes..?

The door opened shortly after followed by Alex giving me a big hug. "I'm so glad you could make it!" He said cheerfully. "Haha, yeah! What's for dinner?" I ask confidently. "Well, we have lasagna! I heard pasta is really romantic." He answered. I laughed a little and stepped inside.

Woah, this place is huge! His family must be rich! I think he has 3 stories of his house! Looking just ahead I can see 7 rooms! There are probably 21 in this big mansion!

But I didn't want to be rude and just stand there admiring his humble home, so I slipped off my Uggs and walked to the table. The smell of lasagna was very strong, as his kitchen was just a corner around the dining room. I sat down to the table on the chair that was pulled out for me. I smiled and looked down at the table, seeing forks, spoons, knives, napkins, and...I'm not sure what that is. Alex handed me a plate of lasagna after realizing that I was dazing off. "Enjoy!" He said with a smile on his face. I smiled too and we sat across from each other.

"So I want to know more about each other-can you tell me a little more about yourself?" I asked Alex, whilst cutting off a piece of my lasagna. "Sure!" Alex replied.

"Well, my full name is Alex Ellie Stone and I would love you to be my girlfriend. (I smiled.) I am at one of the most highest levels in my grade, according to our teacher, and one of my best classmates is Bruce Dale. I'm sure you know him." He began. Yeah, I know. He's one of my bullies. But you wouldn't know that, I haven't told you yet. And I probably won't.
"Well my favourite food is poutine." He said whilst hanging his sweater over the chair.

"Don't you mean disco fries?" I asked, puzzled with what he had just said.

"No, actual real Canadian poutine! It's fries topped with gravy and cheese curds." My mouth watered.

I rocked back and forth on the chair, trying to contain my drool, as gross as it sounds. It sounded just that good! "That sounds delicious! You've been to Canada?" I asked. "Of course!" He responded. "I lived in Canada my whole life up until now!" I gasped at his words. "Sorry, I just didn't know you were a Canadian!" I called back quickly. "It caught me off guard." I said, whilst tucking my hair behind my ears. "Yeah, I'm getting stuff done to become a U.S citizen." He told me. "That's so cool! So, anything else interesting about yourself?" I asked him.

"Well, I wouldn't call it interesting, he said with a smile, but..I only figured out who my sister was when I moved to the United States. My parents had separated when I was about 2 years old and my sister was 8 years old. My dad had taken her, and my mom stayed with me. Now she's 21 and I'm still 15. I only figured out all of this when I met up with my sister in IKEA and she told me the whole story. It's really crazy and a lot to process, really. I didn't remember this as I was only about 2..I had grown up thinking my dad had perished." He explained. I think I saw him frowning for the first time.

"But back to the normal stuff, my favourite movies are mostly rom-coms. I also like stargazing, camping, playing with animals...especially puppies! Oh, and also meeting new people." He said with a smile.

"Well, my full name is Emma Eliza Andersons. I get bullied a lot about 'how basic I am'. I don't mean to get pity but my dad was abusive and he died from alcohol poisoning, but my mom, sister, and I are completely healthy. My sister can be a brat sometimes. My mom can only afford a small apartment room for us, but we have the biggest apartment room there. It includes a bathroom, kitchen, living room, and 3 beds in one room. So there are 4 rooms in total." I explained.

Alex looked at me happily. I think he was glad we had the best one there, he always seemed so concerned for me. I looked back and smiled. We both finished our lasagna and I put on my coat. "Wait!" Alex yelled. "Take this." He smiled and passed me a slip of paper. I thanked him, not knowing what it was. When I got my Uggs on and left the house, I finally noticed it was a phone number! His phone number!! I looked back at his house and thought about the amazing experience. This was our first date...and I hope it's not the last.
