Jungkook left that day leaving Namjoon with the impression of his gentle touches. He left with the imprints of Namjoon's love itself. Their laughs echoed through the empty apartment walls and it only brought comfort to the elder. Both knew it would be a long time before they saw each other again.
I see swimming pools and living rooms and aeroplanes
I see a little house on a hill and children's namesThe long hands that once played with the younger's hair were tapping the buttons of the keyboard furiously. His eyes hadn't left the screen for hours, his stomach begged for him to consume something that wasn't necessarily caffeine. The blond locks were messy to say the least and the work was nowhere near done.
No matter how much he tried, something would always stay faulty. Maybe the tune would be a bit too fast or the lyrics too plain. He had tried every possible combination of words but nothing was working. He knew the reason behind it well but chose to ignore it. However, there was a voice speaking from the back of his mind the words he dreaded so much.
"The words to the song come from your heart, your heart left with him"
The trance he was in was broken by the sound of a doorbell. He stood up, frustrated, and strolled towards the door.
"Who could it be at this hour?" The said hour being half past midnight.
"Namjoonie!" He was surprised at the person standing on his porch but all his doubts washed away as the other male jumped on him.
"Hyung, take it easy!" Namjoon shouted as Seokjin almost tackled him to the floor with a bear hug.
"IT'S BEEN FOREVER SINCE I SAW YOU" Namjoon quickly shut the door behind him, afraid to bother the neighbors.
"Will you quieten down please? And you saw me last week" He returned the hug after a while and let out a small chuckle at Seokjin's childishness.
"But it feels like years..." The black haired male pulled away and stared fondly at what was left of the soon-to-be twenty-three year old. "Have you been eating well? You look pale"
"Well, I have" Namjoon tried to avoid eye contact at all costs knowing all too well that Seokjin was prone to worrying.
"Really? When was the last time you ate?" He crossed his arms around his chest and glared at the younger.
"I ate when Jungkook made us pancakes" He looked up only to find the elder's eyebrows furrowed. "Two days ago"
"WHAT! Are you kidding me?! You haven't eaten for two days?!"
"Hyung, I-"
"No! You are going to go take a bath right now while I make you something to eat. Don't you dare say another word" Seokjin had a face on that said that he was not playing around, so Namjoon complied.
He went ahead to take a bath while Seokjin fixed his sad excuse of a kitchen. While coming out of the shower, his eyes landed on his bare chest and the deep purple marks adorning it. It brought yet another wave of sadness which filled him to the core. Even the very thought of their time together was a reminder that they weren't meant to last.
Someday their secret rendezvous with each other would be revealed and they would be forced to part ways. There would come a time when Jungkook would have to choose between Namjoon and his career, Namjoon wasn't going to let him choose by himself.
The most beautiful things in life are never meant to last. Their memories are meant to be treasured. No matter how much it would hurt, Namjoon had to let go. It was the only way to let Jungkook move forward.
