The wind seemed to have solidified as he stared at the figure standing before him. His breath was knocked out of his lungs at the sight, words caught in his throat. The world appeared to have slowed down on the spinning as the figure walked towards him engulfing him in a hug that he had craved for so long.
He gulped and took a sharp intake of breath as he finally obtained clarity. He snaked his own long and masculine arms around the person who mattered the most to him.
"Jungkook?"
"...."
He could feel the younger's hold tightening around him as he tried to pull back to no avail. Sighing, he closed the door behind them and walked to the living room with Jungkook stuck to his chest.
I am tired of this place, I hope people change
I need time to replace what I gave away"Baby? Won't you tell me what happened?" The sight when he did pull back left Namjoon in a questionable state. His wrists were badly bruised, left cheek a bad shade of purple. There was evident fear in his eyes when Namjoon pulled away much to his dismay. His lips trembled as he struggled to form words while trying to choke back a sob.
"Did that fucktard hurt you again?!" Namjoon's eyes went wide as the situation dawned on him. The very sight of the state Jungkook was in made his heart twist and turn.
Only a nod was required to confirm the doubts clouding his mind. No further words were exchanged as they let their heartbeats do the talking.
Namjoon carried the rather muscular yet fragile boy to his bedroom and sat him on the bed. He was about to leave when Jungkook grabbed at his wrists forbidding him to take any further steps and, by the same token, pull him down towards himself.
"I'm just going to get some ice"
"Make it quick, please" There was a hint of vulnerability in his voice which was very rare. It made Namjoon wonder just how much pain his boyfriend was in.
He ventured through his fridge and returned to the room with cubes of ice wrapped around in a towel to find the hurt one curled up on the bed with his knees pressed to his chest. He sighed and gently tapped his cheek. Jungkook opened his eyes and stared adoringly at the blonde holding the ice.
"Get up, that must hurt" Jungkook smiled cheekily and sat up. It was though his personality had been completely altered.
Namjoon held an ice pack to his left cheek and started unbuttoning his crinkled shirt. Caught out of surprise, the younger tried to protest.
"W-what are you doing?"
"I know you're hurt" It was true. He noticed him flinching at the slightest touch to his stomach when he came in. Jungkook sighed in defeat knowing that it was impossible to keep something from the person his heart belonged to.
Namjoon slowly removed the off-white shirt to find a big, purple bruise on the right side of his ribcage. His hands shivered as he brought yet another ice pack to the injured area, lips quivering in a feeling indescribable.
Of course, Jungkook noticed it all. He noticed the way Namjoon would break down on the inside whenever he went to him crying about his manager. He noticed how Namjoon would smile and keep all his issues to himself comforting the younger instead. He noticed the despair in Namjoon's eyes everytime they had to bid farewell for God knows how long.
"I'm sorry....I know I'm hurting you and I'm sorry. But I promise we're going to be happy, in a b-big house in the m-middle of nowhere..." Tears fell on the long hands holding the pack of ice. Namjoon's eyes immediately shot up only to find the reason for his existence breaking down into pieces.
And my hopes, they are high, I must keep them small
Though I try to resist I still want it allIt wasn't the punches or the kicks that would hurt the most. No matter how much his manager hurt him physically, the spawn of Devil knew what he was doing to Jungkook emotionally. It was the aftermath that would leave the two perturbed souls even more unsettled.
Namjoon didn't say anything. Maybe because what the younger said was true, maybe because he didn't have the strength to fight back those words.
Jungkook lied down and fell into a much awaited slumber as Namjoon walked out into his balcony to take a whiff of what would leech the very life out of him. He took out a death stick and lighted it's end. The air was soon clouded with the toxic gas as he took whiff after whiff of the cigarette.
He was leaning against the railings and waving his hand in front of his face when a shadow emerged from behind. He almost looked unreal amidst the smoke when Namjoon turned his head to the side to take a look.
"Since when?" His eyes were void of any emotion as he spoke the words. Namjoon disposed of the cigarette and stared into those impassive eyes not being able to speak a word.
It was as if Jungkook could sense the distress in his boyfriend's mind, as if he could read him like an open book. His eyes were firstly angry, then numb and finally soft. He brought his unbruised hand to the elder's cheek and brought their bodies closer. He closed his eyes and leaned in for a kiss so intimate that it drowned their hearts in the pure, sick feeling of being loved.
Jungkook's lips were the only drug he needed.
Jungkook's lips guided Namjoon's dried ones and carried him places he'd never been. The fingers that held the coffin nail traced up and down the shorter male's sides almost needily. Jungkook gasped when he felt a tongue invade through his lips and he knew it was going to be an eventful night.
Namjoon carried him inside as his legs tightly wrapped around the elder's waist and his hands got tangled in the blonde locks. Clothes had left the miles and miles of skin as they finally indulged in acts that were overdue for a long time. The night would be engraved in their minds for the long wait ahead.
Namjoon was leaning against the headboard while Jungkook was fast asleep, the deed had already been done. He smiled softly as the moonlight from the window lit up the younger's milky white skin. He wondered what he did to deserve such a beautiful soul as the long eyelashes casted a shadow over the raven's cheeks. He gasped as he saw the fat tears rolling down those eyelashes as the younger trembled in his sleep.
"Jungkook?" He shook the whimpering male until he woke up.
"H-hyung..." He clutched at Namjoon's bare chest in hopes of bringing comfort to himself to no avail.
"It's okay, baby. It's okay. You're okay. No one's going to hurt you, I'm here" He rambled on after pulling Jungkook to his chest and onto his lap completely.
After about fifteen long minutes of sobbing and whimpering, he finally calmed down. Namjoon's hands never left his hair and his own head never left Namjoon's chest. His breathing had evened out and he could finally form coherent words.
"Can you...c-can you sing me to sleep, hyung?" The request caught Namjoon off guard because, according to him, he really wasn't the best at singing. He did what he did best, compose and write songs for someone else to give voice to. But, as they lied in Namjoon's bed with Jungkook shaking ever so slightly, there really was no other option.
"Alright, I'll try my best" He took a deep breath "Don't laugh"
"I won't" Jungkook lightly hit his chest and waited for him to start.
"I know
Every life’s a movieWe got different starts and stories
We got different nights and mornings
Our scenarios ain’t just boring.."
The words felt so unreal coming out of his mouth. His voice danced in a melody which felt like a mouthpiece from heaven. It was amazing how Jungkook couldn't understand the meaning of the words yet they felt so familiar and close to his heart. He didn't know how long Namjoon sang for or how long it took him to fall asleep but he faintly remembers Namjoon singing the words with evident pain in his voice.
"I wish I could love myself
I wish I could love myself
I wish I could love myself
I wish I could love myself..."
