Chapter 9: Confession

Envy POV

I just kept wandering down the endless tunnel. I wasn't sure what to do at this point. I could try to move on.

But I still loved him. I still loved Edward. I don't know if that could ever fade away. That's when I heard his voice. "ENVY!!!"
I whirled around and saw Edward, running towards me full speed.

He managed to stop himself right in front of me and panted hard. I put on a mean face.
"Pipsqueak. What the hell do you-", I stopped when I saw the flowers in his hands.

The ones he supposedly gave to Winry. I looked at him confused.
" Edward what are these doing here?", I asked. He caught his breath then stood upright.

"Envy, at the market. There was a misunderstanding", he stated.
" Misunderstanding? ", I said. He nodded.

" Winry is an amazing friend don't get me wrong. But I don't love her like that", he explained. I scowled.
"Well, who do you love huh Mr.Elric?", I mocked.

Edward then held out the flowers to me. I looked at them confused. What was he doing?

" I...I don't understand ", I said. Ed gave a soft smile.
" Envy, I don't love Winry. I love you"
My eyes widened hearing that last sentence.

Was he serious? The look in his eyes sure showed he was. I slowly took the bouquet and looked at them. How? How is this even possible?

It couldn't be true. He had to be lying.
"Liar", I growled. Ed looked at me confused. I glared at him.

" You can't love me. Its impossible!! I'm a homunculus and you're a human scum!! Besides, I've done so many awful things. You should hate me. Not love me", I yelled.

There was a moment of silence. Then he spoke up.
"Envy. None of that matters to me. I still love you and I always will", he stated.

The words coming out of his mouth. They were unreal. I fell to my knees, tears welling up in my eyes. I looked away so he wouldn't see.

Edward knelt in front of me. He cupped a hand on my cheek and faced my head towards him. He gave a guilty look.
" Envy...I'm so sorry for hurting you. I know you probably still hate me", he stated. I shook my head.

"No you idiot!! I can't hate you. Even if I try I can never hate you cause I love you too", I blurted out. Edward looked at me shocked. Then smiled.

" Envy...", he said.
"E-Edward", I replied. Tears streamed down my cheeks. Edward took the bouquet and carefully set it aside.

Then he wrapped his arms around me and held me close. I sniffed, trying so hard not to burst out sobbing.
" Envy, its ok. Let it all out", Edward whispered in my ear.

I couldn't hold back any longer. Gripping onto his red coat I buried my face into his shoulder and cried.

"Edward! Edward! Edward!", I wailed his name over and over. He rubs my back in such a comforting way.
" Ssshh, its ok now. I'm right here", he cooed.

After a minute we slowly pull away. I took a deep breath. I've never cried like that before. How pathetic it was.

"I'm sorry Ed, you shouldn't have seen me like that", I said. Ed chuckled.
" Don't be silly. You have nothing to apologize for", he said.

He wiped the tears off my face and I gave a small smile. Then he took his metal hand, cupped my cheek, and leaned closer. My heart started faster and faster the closer he came.

I moved in closer as well. Then our lips pressed against each other. The kiss was light at first but we pressed a little harder as time progressed.

Then we pulled away, both of us blushing like crazy. Edward stood up and held out a hand to me.
"Shall we head back?", he asked. I nodded.

I took his hand and he pulled me up. He grabbed the bag while I got the flowers. Then, holding hands we walked back together.
