"Hey are we still on for coffee at 7?" Liam texts back.
"Of course! I always keep my promises! :)" I write the smiley face with a real smile on my face.
"Hey Sophie What if we just switched into your room and kicked your roomate into my room? Heather hasn't unpacked a bit she keeps talking on the phone to her boyfriend...just please get me away from Rebecca. Frankly, she creeps me out!"
"I don't know if that's legal... But we can sure try Annie!"
"I'm not used to sleeping in a different room than you!"
Throughout the years we have spent hundreds of nights having sleepovers at each other's house but for the last 2 months I had been sleeping at Annie's house.
Ever since the accident, she has easily integrated me into her home. I was always an only child and she was too. Her parents were thrilled to take me in as something to write off on their taxes.
I never thought I would be an orphan. I mean, I played little orphan Annie in 8th grade and played an orphan in Les Mis in junior year but never ever could imagine what it could be like.
Good thing I turned 18 in march or else I would have been in a foster home for a couple of months or something...
"Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
I mentally quote Ferris Beuller's Day Off, my favorite movie of all time.
It seems so perfect, the quote, I stopped caring about my parents after I turned 18. I figured I would be okay to be an adult.
This happened. I try not to blame it on myself... But I still do...
Liam texts me back again.
"So 7pm at the Vanilla Bean? B.Y.O.R.( aka bring your own roomate) haha we probably dont know that many people and it would be great to meet each other's mates. K see you soon."
He's kinda cute I guess... Mostly Liam is just sweet. I'm trying not to get my heart broken easily...
I get attached to people and things. Then I lose them. I don't want to get reattached to things then lose them.
Hmmm.... Since I'm going out... I'll curl my hair for once. I have naturally curly but frizzy straight flaming red hair. I have always hated it cause it makes me stand out in a crowd too easily.
Annie, on the other hand, has bright blue eyes and sleek blond hair in a short A-line cut.
I add smooth curls and correct my eye makeup since I was sleeping in the car this morning. I add a drop of visible to correct my contacts and move on my way.... To the bed.
I sit on my bed bad check my Facebook for the next halfhour. I must be like 5 minutes fashionably late so seem cool... But I'll make sure that Annie is ready now since its 6:45.
She sits in her room talking to Rebecca on her thoughts in president Obama. Yikes.
"Oh sorry Rebecca but Sophie and I really must go!" She shuts the door behind her and let's out an anguished sigh.
"Couldn't have gotten me out at a more perfect time Soph. That was ridiculous! I don't give a damn about politics didn't you see me never get into a single debate last semester in government. She's my worst nightmare roomate. I just hope she is taking her meds."
