Scout Training Part 1

I wake with a jolt, and rub the aching scares on my wrists. I haven't had a nightmare like that in so long. Its no wonder though, today is my first day of scout field training.

I get up from my bed and walk up to the mirror I keep by my dresser. I stare into my reflection, dark purple eyes stare right back. I have to calm down, I hate it when they turn like this. It reminds me too much of my past.

I close my eyes and take some deep breathes. When I open my eyes again they're back to their normal blue color. My eyes are blue, surrounded by a darker purple.Sometimes the colors fight for dominance.

Some people say that when my eyes are purple I'm stronger. Sure, its somewhat true that my reflexes and my senses are heightened when they're purple, but when they are I feel weak. Papa Louie says it has to do with my past. For the longest time the only color they were was purple, I couldn't change them back to blue.

I look up and down my body once more in the mirror. There are scars everywhere, of course this isn't news to me. I usually cover up the major scars, the ones that mark me as one of the children from The Ring. I may not be one anymore but my past still haunts me.

I'll wear orange today, I think as I grab an orange tank top from my drawers. I slide on the undershirt then put on handmade shoulder guards that hide three of the lettered scars. Then on goes my wrist bands that hide the scares made from the chains. I'll need to wear long pants today, I'm meeting my partner and my field trainer in a patch of woods today. I slug on my black coat then, to finalize my outfit, I wrap a dark green scarf around my neck to cover the scar made by the collar.

I won't be coming back to this dorm room any more, so I pack up the rest of my clothes into the suitcase that I brought from home. I strap my belt of knives, and two swords around my waist. From my desk I grab the map I was given to find the campsite I would have to go to.

I make my way to the door and as I'm leaving with map in hand. I look back into room to make sure I didn't forget anything. I won't miss this place one bit.

I walk out of the building and take a quick look at the watch I stuck to my left wrist band. It's 5:30 in the morning, I might just be at the campsite before my partner.
